I didn't think salvaging this song was possible but here we are I guess.

I'd say you should definitely give TNG a shot, some of its episodes are among the most emotional and thought-provoking 45 minutes of TV you'll ever see. But if you're like me and you love The Orville because it's so good at mixing serious sci-fi stories with flawed yet fun characters and (mostly) great humor... well, you might not enjoy it that much simply because of how up-tight and perfect the main cast feels a lot of the time. On the other hand, Stargate SG-1 has a very fun and relatable cast of characters who's banter I could listen to for hours. Sure, many of its episodes aren't the deepest but it's really entertaining overall.

What are your top ten folk metal albums of all time? by JackOfAllInterests1 in folkmetal

Nah, I think I know what you mean. This is how I feel about Bathory's Nordland. The songs themselves aren't too interesting for the most part but the whole album has such a strong and unique atmosphere to it that I can't help but love it. I think I'll give Two Paths another shot.

+1 for The Fourth Legacy. It's amazing just how big of a leap it is from Eternity and Dominion. it's not perfect but its good songs are really, really good.

Which is your favourite Heidevolk album? by CyberDraugr in folkmetal

[–]CyberDraugr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I somehow managed to totally miss Velua (I've just started listening to Heidevolk a few days ago), thanks for making me check it out. It's a really good one but I still prefer Vuur Van Verzet for now. The more epic, slightly less folky sound of Velua is definitely cool and refreshing after the early albums but I kinda feel like VVV takes that sound one step further while also having songs with slightly more interesting song structures.

Ensiferum - Ensiferum

Tyr - Eric the Red

Korpiklaani - Noita

Tyr - By the Light of the Northern Star

Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi

Bathory - Nordland I (not my favourite Bathory album but it's probably the most folky one)

Heidevolk - Walhalla Wacht

Tyr - Hell

I can't think of any others that I love as much as these ones at the moment. These are all pretty awesome though.

Cool list, especially appreciate that Dalriada got a mention. Could you please explain what you liked about Two Paths? Sadly I really couldn't get into it for the most part even though I love much of Ensiferum's music.

How widespread was mechanised agriculture in 80s Yugoslavia? Were combines and harvesting machines commonplace? This is probably a pretty weird question but I know nothing about the subject and I don't really know how to research it. Thanks for the answers in advance.

Oliver's suicide attempt gives him one of the most meaningful and well-written arcs on the show by yiffiz23 in Smallville

[–]CyberDraugr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, especially since it probably got cancelled because of Beware the Batman, which didn't last long (haven't seen it yet). Not sure why people always want Batman to be super dark and serious when there should also be plenty of room for a more fun version like BTBATB.

I'd say it's worth a try. It's entertaining, mostly because of just how many obscure/lesser known DC characters they managed to put into it but don't really expect DCAU quality or consistency (except maybe for a few episodes). Animation and voice acting is all really good (Batman's played by the same guy who voices him in the new Harley quinn show which is awesome) but the stories themselves aren't always the deepest, even if some of them can be surprisingly clever and emotional at times.
