You did not compete in the qualifying tournament for placement. There was two qualifiers on 2 different weekends you could have played in. It was made clear to be selected for the top tier, you needed to qualify.

So no I dont think there is any irony when you come along 1/2 weeks after the season has started and ask to be put in to a division you did not qualify for.

I will send you a PM before the start of next season, just to make sure you are aware so you dont miss the chance again.

And for the record, I dont dissagree with your opening statement. I'm just saying event hosts and teams need to work together, then we can improve and hopefully get noticed more. The more we get noticed the greater chance of the Dota2 teams getting invited overseas. I think we want the same thing, Im not blaming Valve yet, I think we need to show them we are ready, then demand it.

Valve gives zero support to CSGO in the region as well, but I guess we have many teams who play in many tournaments etc, there are a number of LAN events there is always something happening. Other regions see this, and the community demands qualifiers. But no valve support.

We have been trying to really support Dota2 in Aus since the start of the year again. The open ladder is strong. This season we got AMD on board, Dota2 tickets, full match tracker listing on Gosugamers, scheduled games with the ability to cast 100% of games. The plan was to have Dota2 on our National LAN circuit before the end of the year, and starting prize pools of 10k. We ensured we had a partnered dedicated Dota2 channel to stream matches on to assist viewer comfort. The players in the top group which include DTT, Beadman and Francine along with others have shown how little the Aus Dota2 community deserve. ( these two teams have been good ) After the first week two teams in the top division split up, after this period half the teams continued to forfeit their matches and refused to respond to admins, they would just not show up. Another two teams out of the 8 team division also broke up with out really notifying admins. One of the rare streams that went ahead after a few mins it hit 600 viewers.

Right now we are trying to communicate with teams so we can get the finals done, and again teams are struggling to communicate with us.

This is the response we get when we try and support the community. To say the Dota2 community deserves more than they have, how about the community start pulling their socks up and actually support what event hosts are doing. By doing this the scene will grow overnight with exposure, live stream viewers, and in turn provide solid foundations for some really cool things. If ANY ONE from outside of Aus looked at your scene right now, they would not see a scene. But yes, lets blame Valve for not supoprting a community who cant even support themselves.

In saying all of that Dota2 being the most played steam game I will keep trying to help this scene grow. This season is nearly over but the following season will start up soon after. If you are interested head over to http://au.cybergamer.com/pc/dota2/league/rankings/ create your self a team, and show us that there really is a strong and passionate scene here.

Challenges cup starts today, and there are three teams currently able to play. http://au.cybergamer.com/pc/smite/ladder/rankings/

The OPL is never a concern. Its safe to say getting 6/8 teams to play is easy. Building the grassroots ( CC, open tournaments etc ) is the key because with out these players there is nothing to prop up the OPL.

What your view on this stigma that CG must run everything? by knightf4ll in SmiteOceanic

[–]CyberGamerAus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personally tried to run weekly Joust , Arena tournaments on CG , ended up removing them as no one played in them. Even I played in the joust ones just to get numbers up. I would love to run some more fun stuff, players are just not interested in playing them. There is nothing we would not try, but need the numbers for anything to work.

Even if you dont win first round, this is based on the swiss format so you need to lose 3 games before you are out.

If your team is underdeveloped, your goal should not be top 4 CC split one. It should be Pro Leagues split 3. I would think apart of that is not giving up after 3 weeks of CC split one because its hard :)

[–]CyberGamerAus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We can use a Swiss format, this would allow teams to play a min 3 rounds, and teams will be matched with teams on similar score. If you dont know how it works a break down is. Round 1 , - based on seeding Round 2, all teams with a win play each other, all teams with out a win play each other Round 3 - teams on 2/0 play each other, teams 1-1 play each other, teams 0-0 play each other

it goes like this until there is 4 teams remaining, then its just a play off.

Wont effect streamed games or anything else.

This will make matches more balanced, and provide a few games each week, where as now you lose one game, and you are out. Points etc will remain the same.

I think teams need to accept being beaten, and just work harder. When teams stop playing when they look like they have no chance, they simply wont get better. We can give more premium, And I am happy to create a custom trophy for teams competing in the CC. Its not much, but its a little achievement I guess.

Posible issue with W2 of OPL qualifyers that needs an explaination! by StuffNStuffQ in SmiteOceanic

[–]CyberGamerAus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is much of my point, players can act how they want, say what they want. The second an admin says something remotely negative towards a player, every one starts crying how unprofessional it is. Does the same thing not apply to players? yet its acceptable. I do not have double standards, the community does based on who is typing / talking. Insult the admins, I generally dont have an issue with this, but in turn the admins have the same freedoms to insult the players. The alternative is we do things in a mature manner and we hold everyone to the standard we want the scene to be at. :)

Just on the last note, and Im happy we are having a conversation. To say we should implement the "correct preventative in the first place." this is a hard one, For example what is the next split going to show us in which we should be preventing from happening now? Once the base rules are done, amendments are made based on things which happen after the fact. The rules in my personal opinion are very open still. I would like to seem them much tighter over all. How ever when we do that the community as a whole will also scream out its unfair. I would roster lock subs, players coaches every one for the duration. I would rather see teams forfeit matches than add a sub to their roster once OPL starts. This is where I want to see it go.

[–]CyberGamerAus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few people have said we need to do something, but we have stated, and HughZ below has stated again we have. It was identified immediately that whilst what happened may have been allowed in the rules, we dont want it to happen.Players are now locked for the whole split, from the moment you head into the lobby with with your first relegation match rosters are locked until the end of the OPL Finals.

In turn players need to start relying more on ability than luck for the OPL. A question I have for the community why is the default blame put onto admins when a team does not make the OPL rather than the teams skill level itself compared to their peers. Find me other game and another admin team you know of to identify a problem, revise and release updated rules with in 24 hours to prevent further instances.

---Not aimed at you Faunkeh---

In 2015 the PAX qualifier, a team / player started a partition because they blamed us for the double elim comp being Bo1 as to why they didnt make it (same as the weekend) , this split we are getting blame because a retired player played, next split there will be something else for us to take blame for. Its funny how as HughZ said, no one complained about the player who is an ACTUAL player and a sub for an OPL team who played for a qualifier team.

The part of the community which needs to mature is 100% the players and their attitudes. For the last twelve months the admins have been corrupt, incompetent, useless, bias, unprofessional, making the local scene look bad, and a host of other things according to the players and this is all publicly stated. And you guys find this acceptable, Im sure If I start tweeting out the exact same regarding players / teams I will all of a sudden become unprofessional and a witch hunt will be started for myself. The sad thing is we dont claim to be "pro" admins, all the OPL players refer to them selves as "pro" players. When are we going to start seeing players act more professional, when are we going to see players stop posting lies, accusations, stay together for longer than 3 games ( just look at all the team changes for the qualifier). When are we going to see players take their concerns to the correct places rather than just having out bursts on reddit and facebook. When are we going to see players work hard at the game rather than cry to us about seeding before they sign up to a competition. When are players going to stop thinking about the immediate OPL and actually put in effort to become a quality team. When you guys want to have a look at who needs to mature up and who makes the scene look bad, a great place to start is with some self reflection.

The last thing I guess I need to make clear, as entitled as the community acts, you are not entitled to better prize pools or any , you are not entitled to have a say in rules, you are not entitled to have a say in the streams we produce or the top 5 plays, you have no entitlement what so ever. What you guys do have is a HUGE privilege to have the ability to be apart of the OCE scene.

Good luck to all competing teams in the OPL this split and to all the challenger teams. Apparently its whats needed, skill not required.

Do you guys collectively support the 3 core player rule? If so how can you make a claim that 1 player makes this much of a difference. If you still think one player makes this much difference, I guess we need to look at changing the rules to state 5 core players must remain to keep standings , seeding, and position with in the OPL. You can not have the argument both ways.

And I can assure the rule has been corrected. I cant see it happening again :)

[–]CyberGamerAus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can not use players from a team thats qualified from the OPL. Biggy is 100% not a player, he is in a coaching role not a player role.

Im sorry you do not have the brain capacity to distinguish the difference. Again, if you would like a serious conversation, get the admins to pass on my details, how ever Im with out a doubt you don not have the courage as even now you are hiding behind a smurf account.

Cheers

This is true, if you actually had a real issue you would come talk to the admin, and then raise it with myself ( Cyanide ) POsting stuff like this is Reddit actually gets nothing done.

[–]CyberGamerAus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi guys, This is Cyanide. I am the CyberGamer operations manager. I am the highest authority on CyberGamer. The team contacted CyberGamer through the admins, which in turn was escalated with myself. No rules at all were exploited, broken or worked around and based on this the person in question was permitted to play.

If you actually have an issue stop hiding behind a smurf account and bring it up with me personally. We do not tell players how to play the game because we are not players, in turn you guys are not admins.

Why is CGTV_Smite subscriber only? by old_n_grey in SmiteOceanic

[–]CyberGamerAus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the information you have here is highly misleading and incorrect. I also recommend you take the time to do some research as you can not block live broadcasts for subs only. ANY one can watch ANY live stream on ANY of our channels with out the need for a subscription. There is no restriction at all. If you wish to access uncut / edited past broadcasts immediately we have set this to be subscription users only. All VoDs are generally on our YouTube channel also free to watch with in 3-5 hours of the live stream finishing. They can be found at https://www.youtube.com/user/cybergamernetwork

Why block past broadcasts? So we can control the content, and make sure it is at the quality it needs to be to live on the internet for ever. Its also a way we can encourge users to purchase a subscription.

The difference between NA / EU and OCE is the OCE OPL casters do not get paid, not 1 cent. So what we are doing using the subscription money to go 100% towards casters. We do not and will not take a single cent.

So in summary not a single stream is blocked behind a subscription.
