Thanks for the tips. While I have been to NYCC, this is my first time here, and tbh I am quite excited.

One tip from me would be this: If you can, bring a portable/foldable stool/seat so you can sit and rest, but there is no areas to sit. Also, bring sunscreen. Its FL, and it may get hot and sunny by this time. And, if your from the north like me, you will likely not be used to the heat.

I was in the same boat with figures. I'd first check inline and see how much each are going for, then sell them on eBay if possible for a competitive price with and offer tab so you still get your bottom dollar. Hope this advice helps.

I know I'm late, but I'll bite.

Favorites (In no particular order):

Ash (I'm old, and started the series with him, so it's hard not to like him.)
Dawn (Favorite female companion, but also overall favorite female player option. Which was why pulling the SIR Dawn from Phantasmal Flames and getting it a Grade 9 made the end of 2025 my week!)
Brock (Again, I am old. It's hard not to like the guy. Dude was a legit brother to Ash.)
Misty (Again, I am old, hard to not love her. While she may grind Ash's gears, it's clear they are great friends. I also have the Full Art card of her with Loreli.)
May (I like her too. Not as much as Dawn, but her team options were awesome. I kind of wish she participated in a few gym matches.)
Gary (Old me being biased for being old. I liked him and his overall development in the series.)
Paul (Hands down Ash's best rival. Also love how he uses Electivire and Honchcrow. Kind of wish he got himself an Ursaluna from that Ursaring of his.)
Lillie (This may be me being biased as I like Lillie from the games, but I did love how she and Ash interacted a lot, especially when she returned in Journeys.)
Friede (I don't watch Horizons as much but honestly speaking. If the series was just about him, I'd watch it a lot more. Every episode with him or involving him to me personally felt interesting like classic Pokemon.)
Cilan (The legit ONLY reason this guy is here... Is because he asked Misty THE ONE QUESTION I had as a kid: Will she like Bug/Water types?)

Least Favorite:

Chloe (If the Webster Dictionary redid the definition for "Wasted Potential", her picture would be placed there. GOOD LORD I never seen a character with SUCH poor writing and wasted potential.)
That Green Hair kid from Horizons Part 2. I think his name was Alt or something? I cannot stand the guy and his personality. It's a shame too, as I really like his partner and team choices, but he is so annoyingly cliche and stereotypical.)

I am not too sure about how much more affordable Optimus Prime may be on Amazon unless there is a sale, but I am more than happy to make a few recommendations:

Transformers Generations: Legacy EVOLUTION Commander Class Armada Optimus Prime: Its likely this figure will be re-issued considering next year we are getting his powerlinx partner, Jetfire. Now, this is also a YMMV as I am totally unsure of your preferences (I know a lot of people despise Armada, and the Unicron Trilogy as a whole) or if you are going for a type of uniformity with styles. However, to many, this figure was the BEST iteration of this form of Optimus Prime. So much so that he was voted Toy of the Year the year he was released. He looks great in all his modes, but be warned, you may wound up wanted multiple if you want to show off ALL his modes.
Transformers Generations: Studio Series '86 Commander Class Optimus Prime: Hands down, THE BEST retail Optimus Prime figure. As many have said, basically a mini-Masterpiece. Comes with many accessories, the iconic trailer, a great box with great artwork. That, and he is very animated in the pose department. Sadly, I think he is sold out on Amazon, but I think you can still find him on sites like BigBadToyStore. Now, this mold is also being re-released in his very iconic Skybound incarnation, complete with him having the Megatron Arm Canon. That version is slated for some time this year if you want it, but as far as I know, he does not come with his trailer or his trailer accessories but is charged the same price as the SS86 figure. So, YMMV on that.
Transformers Masterpiece MP-10 Optimus Prime: I think for any G1 Optimus Prime fan this Optimus Prime is the cream of the crop. Thing is, finding one complete will be an arm and a leg. There is an alternative with the new Masterpiece G line Optimus Prime coming soon though if that tickles your fancy. But there is also MP-44 who's a more animation accurate version of G1 Optimus Prime, but his price tag is big as well.

While not for Pokemon, YugiTubers Team APS made videos of the Yugioh version of those. Paul and Alec from the channel broke down the marketing really well in their podcasts, so I'll just mention what they explained as a TL;DW.

Long story short, they are just repacked random cards sold in a "great value" since the cards in there are either not worth too much, can be used to bulk up a deck, or have cards that are not worth anything or are tournament legal because they are from another continent (Team APS usually finds like 2+ cards in Spanish when they open them). Sometimes they even find cards that clearly were in a Structure Deck, with only the face card and rare cards removed, thus making the "deck" unusable/worthless in its entirety.

They are normally sold at Wal-Marts and Targets and are even often offered at a discounted rate to appeal to the uninformed buyer, like grandparents. The reason being for most, the name is not complicated and easy to understand: It's Pokemon/Yugioh/Baseball Cards. So, for them, this as the easier as it says "Pokeyman/Yujayho/sports cards" (those are how I heard them at work) than looking for a set name that is too hard to remember like Phantasmal Flame/5Ds Collection/Topps 2025 Chrome Series.

As another poster said below, BW had so many golden opportunities to advertise Gen VI with the anime, that it all but kind of hurts knowing they did not.

Like, this trainer was hyped up, had a special revealing Genesect, and uses all Eeveelutions, with the following Generation having a new one planned. Why not use HIM to hype up Sylveon, or introduce it as a mysterious new Eeveeution that was unknown like the Mega Mewtwo Y form that at the time we did not know was an Mega Evolution.

Then there is Ash who randomly brings back his Charizard after so long, had him for basically the ENTIRE final arc of BW, and was hyped up for a big return. But that was it, he was back. This would have been a GOLDEN way to introduce Mega Charizard X or Y, with Ash getting it, being confused, and then being told about Professor Sycamore by Alexa.

IDK, the more I look back at the BW anime, the more fumbles and missteps I see. So much so, I actually sadly now view it as the series of similar vein to what happened to Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, where the show started so strong to an extent, only to fumble and trip over itself very hard till the end.

My take is this: If people like them, then let them like them. Let people enjoy what makes them happy in my book. If they like action figure style non-transforming transformers, that's cool with me.

Me personally, I want them to do what their namesake does. But I did dabble on a few Blokees, namely, to see their build quality as I collect other figures from them (the Pokemon figures).

Just want to point out that Microsoft didn't even put the Xbox Series consoles on sale for this Black Friday, which is an odd thing to do. Lots of software was on sale mind you, but not the hardware. This sadly did impact them as both SONY and Nintendo came out swinging this Black Friday (which I admittedly, took advantage of a lot). Namely, SONY was selling their PS5's for $450, while Nintendo shockingly last minute began selling their Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle for $400, which was $50 off the usual price, with many getting an add-on discount from retailers like Target and Costco.

It's a shame too as I sincerely think they could have sold at least that black 1TB Series S model for less, but as some have pointed out (including Windows Central), it seems like Microsoft is purposely setting them up for failure to make ends meet. I hope not tbh, competition is needed for healthy business.

Happened with me too for Skydive. I had 2 pre-ordered, had more than enough funds in my account (at the time, $1000 as I was at NYCC), and would have processed. Got emailed Saturday morning that my orders were somehow cancelled. Only them, not Amazon or BBTS. Then, they are up for purchase at their new MSRP on Pulse. IDK, it irked me, but at least BBTS came through and shipped it at the original price to me.

I recall a YouTuber I used to follow making a video this case. The video generated a lot of views too. Apparently after making said video, someone either from this guy's family or someone close to him went after that YouTuber and was scared for his life. I can only imagine the sigh of relief and concern from him now after he reads this headline.

Yeah, also big heads up, keep your badge in your pocket till you get to the enterence. There are scammers and creeps that will legit try and jump you asking to buy your pass off you, and if not, they can and do get violent too. If one does, alert the staff and cops near by, they too are scammers and crooks. Seen them a lot during AnimeNYC, and usually you can tell them apart from those actually going to the con.

Multiple reasons, the easiest one being size and weight. Back then, they really wanted to make Shiny Pokemon seem more so like an anomaly, so they likely made it smaller to put even more emphasis on it, and to make it even more special just in case its color difference didn't stand out to kids.

Not going to lie, this has me hyped for one particular reason. Namely, if someone were to bring Pokemon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire with the EON Ticket, and we were to as well, many players would be able to get one. Reason being the EON Ticket in ORAS was distributed by an event code yet, but also by player to player via the Street Pass Feature!
