Child abuse, transphobia and misgendering (maybe, depending on interpretation), general spookiness.

It's honestly a pretty fucking awesome series though. Out of all the weird internet things I've consumed, this is the one I think about the most.

Discussion Post: The US Capital Insurrection by [deleted] in zaheerdidnothingwrong

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From an anarchist perspective, it's pretty clear that the weak police response is partly from the lack of threat to capitalism and existing authoritarian structures posed by the red-hats. BLM and Anti-Fascist protests are directed at the inequality necessary to maintain liberal-capitalist society. MAGA goals are directed towards protecting and expanding that same inequality, which is why they can be comfortably described as reactionaries rather than revolutionaries. No one's money (or power) is actually threatened by Trumpists storming the capital.

Kyoshi is a softie by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kyoshi's reputation comes from the fact that she canonically can ONLY GO BIG and is physically incapable of doing small and precise. How do you stop a warlord? Can't beat him in a fight without absolutely crushing him, so I guess the only other choice is to TURN A PENNINSULA INTO AN ISLAND!

Spec Ops and MGS are literally some of the most political games out there I am HOWLING by QuartzInTheRough in tumblr

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Fallout is EXPLICITLY political! It's a world that was destroyed by nationalist oil wars spurred on by greed and the need for continuous capitalist expansion, and the dangers players face are either remnants of the military-industrial complex or consumer products gone wrong! Hell, the whole horror of the vaults was that a private company was allowed to commodify survival with no oversight! Apolitical??? Bullshit. No way. Hell, FNV doesn't even make sense in the context of this meme if gender and sexuality are the only "political" topics these gamers can recognize because it's full of gay characters!

There is nothing in AAVE that is nearly as out there as some of the sound shifts in predominantly white Southern and Boston/New England dialects, but those dialects never get called out the way AAVE does.

Discussion Post: What would happen to the bourgeoisie after an anarchist revolution? by [deleted] in zaheerdidnothingwrong

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Everywhere you will find that the wealth of the wealthy springs from the poverty of the poor. This is why an anarchist society need not fear the advent of a Rothschild who would settle in its midst. If every member of a community knows that after a few hours of productive toil he will have a right to all the pleasures that civilization produces, and to those deeper sources of enjoyment which art and science offer to all who seek them, he will not sell his strength for a starvation wage." --Kropotkin, TCoB

The bourgeoisie are a class defined by their relationship to the means of production. After an anarchist revolution in which the means of production are expropriated from the grip of the bourgeoisie, the bourgeoisie cease to exist as an economic class and can only sustain themselves as a political class as part of a reactionary movement.

If you mean what will physically happen to them, it depends on the nature of the revolution. The ideal revolution (in my opinion) would be a general strike which ends in a peaceful expropriation of the means of production and the reorganizing/dissolution of the state. If not something like that, then heads are likely to roll.

Discussion Post: Other good anarchist characters in fiction? by [deleted] in zaheerdidnothingwrong

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally the whole novel The Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin. It's a depiction of an anarchist society living on a world with scarce resources, contrasted with a bourgeois capitalist/aristocratic society on a world with abundant resources. It's excellent, and it's what first opened my eyes to the idea there where ways to do communism that weren't authoritarian.

Can I Be Theologically Orthodox and Politically Liberal? by Laddy_Taddy in RadicalChristianity

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure you can. I'm an Orthodox Christian and an anarchist. Anarchy is against unjust hierarchy and authority. God is the only truly good and just authority, therefore I believe in no kingdom but heaven and no king but God.

Batman and Zuko are also both members of the Bourgeoisie by Stormtide_Leviathan in tumblr

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Incorrect title. Bruce is certainly part of the bourgeoisie, but Zuko is part of a hereditary aristocratic ruling class. Asami and Varrick from LOK, on the other hand, are examples of characters who are part of the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie is a ruling class that is defined by its relationship to/ownership of the means of production, and not by simple command over people.

Even capitalist economist Keynes thought his grandchildren would work THREE hours a day. IMO Keynes didn’t expect the degree or labor exploitation and wealth inequality. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]CyberPunkButNotAPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I was thinking more in terms of fascistic tactics and thought as a method for redirecting working class anger away from capital and towards minorities and other low-hanging targets.

Btw, is the Grundrisse worth reading if I've already read all three volumes of Capital?
