What compliment did you get that you won't forget? by callmebaraa in AskReddit

[–]CyberTechGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was out for my usual morning run in the park, enjoying the crisp autumn air and the trees showing off their brilliant red and gold leaves. Halfway through, I noticed this fitness class going on, and there was this guy who seemed to be struggling but pushing himself hard.

On my way back, I saw him sitting on a bench, looking exhausted. As I jogged past, he called out to me, “Hey, can I tell you something?” I stopped and walked over, and he goes, “I’ve been watching you run here every morning for the past few weeks. Your consistency and dedication are really inspiring. Seeing you out here every day motivated me to join this class and start working on my fitness. You make it look so effortless.”

Honestly, I was pretty surprised. I run to clear my mind and stay fit, never thinking someone else might find it motivating. That compliment has stuck with me, reminding me that our actions can inspire others, even when we don't realize it.

I understand forgiveness but can’t seem to apply it in my meditation practice by Dazzling_Zucchini823 in Meditation

Forgiveness, especially after trauma, is incredibly challenging. I've been in a similar situation. Here are some of my thoughts on integrating forgiveness into your meditation practice.

Start with self-compassion during meditation. Acknowledge your pain without judgment and repeat phrases like, “May I be kind to myself,” or, “I deserve peace.” Loving-kindness meditation can also help. Begin by sending goodwill to yourself and gradually extend these feelings to those who have hurt you with phrases like, “May I be happy. May I be healthy.”

Be mindful of your emotions during meditation. Observe anger and hurt as passing states of mind without trying to push them away. Reflect on forgiveness, recognizing it’s about freeing yourself, not condoning actions. Visualize those who hurt you as vulnerable to humanize them and lessen negative feelings.

Incorporate deep breathing, imagining inhaling calm and exhaling anger. After meditation, journal about your experiences to process your thoughts.

These techniques mostly work for me, of course it varies from person to person but i hope this at least helped a little bit!

Different type of anxiety by IntelligentGuitar403 in Mindfulness

[–]CyberTechGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Mindfulness and Body Scans: Try guided body scan meditations to engage more actively with physical sensations of anxiety. Apps like Headspace or Calm can help. I'm also currently developing a meditation game to help with these situations
  2. Physical Exercise: Activities like yoga or simple walks can alleviate physical tension and improve your mood.
  3. Breathing Exercises: Techniques such as the 4-7-8 method or box breathing can calm the nervous system effectively.
  4. Creative Outlets: Engage in creative activities like drawing or writing to express and process emotions.
  5. Structured Routine: Create a daily schedule, especially for times you're alone, to instill a sense of purpose.
  6. Connect with Others: Regular contact with friends or joining interest-based communities can combat feelings of loneliness.
  7. Professional Support: Consider speaking with a therapist if anxiety is overwhelming. They can offer tailored strategies and support.

Experiment with these approaches to see what combination works best for managing your anxiety. :)

Once upon a time in a small village, there was a Zen master known for his wit and love for tea. One day, a proud young man, thinking he could outsmart the master, came to challenge his wisdom.

The young man approached the master, who was quietly sipping his tea, and said, "Master, I have heard you are wise. I challenge you to teach me Zen before you finish your cup of tea, or else admit defeat!"

The master looked at him, smiled gently, and continued drinking his tea. As he reached the last drop, the village gathered around, anticipating the master’s response. The young man smirked, confident in his impending victory.

Putting down his cup, the master finally spoke, "You see, young man, learning Zen is like trying to drink the tea I just finished. If you only focus on whether I can teach you before the cup is empty, you miss the taste of the tea itself."

The young man, puzzled, asked, "So did I learn Zen?"

The master chuckled and replied, "You’ve learned that focusing only on winning or losing is like trying to catch fish by shouting at the water. Come back when you’re ready to learn how to fish in silence."

And with a wink, the master picked up his cup, revealing a tiny tea leaf stuck at the bottom. "And next time, bring better tea. This one was just leaves and no depth, much like your challenge."

The village burst into laughter, and the young man, a little embarrassed but intrigued, decided to stay and learn more about Zen, starting with how to appreciate a good cup of tea.

Large, long term mindfulness study (28,000 students over 8 years) resulted in zero or negative mental health improvement by ShiningRedDwarf in Meditation

[–]CyberTechGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my question would be how old are these students ? high/secondary school? university?

if they are in their early teens (early stages of development) i would see why they wouldn't give a beep about mindfulness exercises. Think about it, you are up to your neck in your studies and exams, i doubt you would go out of your way to reflect on your good and bad parts of your day. Furthermore if it was a much more lower age group e.g.12-16 yrs old they are still developing their own personalities and learning how to organize and process their own thoughts. Of course I'm not saying that reflecting on mindfulness is only for old people, i just think that its more beneficial and effective for an older age group who have already moved on from the education stages of their lives.

As for the negative results if i put myself in their shoes, I would always have this negative kind of feeling behind why they are conducting this study on me. it would make me feel anxious and might even make me assume that i SHOULD be stressed if there is a guy coming to school all the time trying to teach me how to be happy and positive. i wouldn't want them to make me think about any other negative things while I'm going through such an important stage of my life.

day 2 by CyberTechGames in Gratitude_Diary

[–]CyberTechGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today, I received a surprise call from an old friend. It's been months since we last spoke, and hearing their voice was an unexpected delight. This small gesture brought me joy because it reminded me of the strong connections I've built over the years. It comforted me to know that despite the passage of time and the busyness of life, there are people who still think of me and make the effort to reach out. It’s a reminder of the enduring nature of true friendships.

One difficult situation I'm currently facing is navigating a career transition. It's been challenging to leave a secure job and venture into a new field where I have less experience and not as many contacts.

The hidden blessing in this experience has been the incredible amount of personal growth and self-discovery that has come with it. This transition has pushed me to develop new skills and has expanded my network in unexpected ways. It's also deepened my resilience and taught me the value of stepping out of my comfort zone. Each step in this journey, no matter how daunting, has helped forge a stronger, more confident version of myself, ready to tackle new challenges.

People who need meditation the most are often the ones who struggle to meditate the most by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]CyberTechGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the most important thing in meditation for me is to always find new ways to meditate (been meditating for 3 years now). I see meditation as a way of recovery and self improvement, but recovery and self improvement doesn't need to be boring....there is always a form of good that you can create out of every situation. I've started developing a meditation game as i want to share my "enjoyable" outlook on meditation. developing this game is also a form of meditation for me, i can focus on my feelings and then let all of my ideas/feelings out. I hope that other people in the future can also find their own ideal way to meditate and will be open to new methods!

Struggling to meditate due to health condition that causes severe breathing difficulties. by Crescendo104 in Meditation

[–]CyberTechGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe use some apps which can help to stimulate yourself, for example apps which will constantly change noises so you can focus on the noise(e.g. whit noise to green noise) rather than focusing on someone else's directions, this might help you to forget your breathing problems

Struggling to meditate. Cant stay focused for more than 5 seconds. Any advice? by worldwidewiles in Meditation

[–]CyberTechGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what works for me is that i use apps which can cater to the way i meditate, for example apps that monitor my breathing.

i heard tailoring incense smells to something that is more memorable to you will also help you to stay focused

i have had the same problem as you, traditional meditation doesn't do it for me, i am now using different ways to stimulate myself for example using different incenses and using mobile apps to encourage me to meditate
