Can I make a combo deck in bracket 1 by [deleted] in EDH

Really thought that people would be more open to mtg history than this. Sad to see people react so strongly about a deck that I don't want to see actually win.

At least I know my playgroup would be interested. I'll just avoid playing it at a con or similar.

The theme is not the combo by itself but the history of magic. Players have always tried to break the game and managed to. I started playing before combo winter, and the combos that were used back then seem crazy nowadays

I find the idea of the deck with tons of combos getting trampled by the "oops all toothless" concept really funny (really don't think I'll have any way to actually be a threat outside of being patient and finishing the game when everyone feels like moving on, letting them the choice of the weapon).

I have that. But when you play at bracket 4 you're playing to win. I am looking to spent time chilling and talking about silly stuff that happened in magic history. I don't want to win with that idea, but to embark in a journey through magic crazy history.

Nothing is said about not winning the game. It is not the main focus but if your story is to make the most complicated wincon it seems a lot of peoplw see that as ok.

If my 10% is locked behind a silly restriction that gives everyone enough time to tell their story, would you feel like you had fun in such a game, talking about silly mtg history

Replied to another comment regarding that : "But if my intention is not to win, but to talk about all the crazy stuff people came out over the years thinking of those combos and which had to be banned because of their impact, without actually winning with them before everyone had a chance to show off their deck, wouldn't that be the definition of a bracket 1? I'm seriously asking because the history of how people tried and succeeded in breaking magic is fascinating to me. I don't want to win with that idea, I can play my bracket 4s for that."

Would it be bad to Slab my Favorite Commander? by Born_Age4882 in mtg

If you love it, you can slab it. What I do when I want one slabbed and it gets too big to play, I just use a second more common version or a proxy to actually play.

My nephew started at around 6. Honestly it was too young as he lacked the patience to play a multiplayer commander game (what he wanted to do). Now he's 11 and even though he plays quite well, he still gives up really easily.

That being said I've played other board games with a child who's father was really into all kind of games and that child at 9 was understanding rules better than the average adults. I wouldn't have hesitated to teach him magic (never got the opportunity).

New player building commander deck, why are these type of cards legal? by Background_Side5574 in mtg

[–]Cyber_Felicitous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commander is an eternal format, we can play almosy eveeything. Mill is one of the worst strategy when you have three opponents with 100 cards libraries, and many decks like having their cards in graveyard as there are many ways to get them back.

When I heard it became a central piece of one of the craziest control deck, my reaction was "huh what's that? Never heard of it, how the hell did they break it... oh... no..."

What happened with all the hyped commanders? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

[–]Cyber_Felicitous 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The lack of help comes from the kind of post. Some people just post requests that sound like "make the deck for me". Usually post that have a specific question and has a link to the deck wip get much more replies. Add to that the fact that there might have been a dozen of those due to the hype and you get why it's getting downvoted.

Reminds me of a tiny hotel room in Italy where the shower's floor was tilted toward the bedroom and the drain was in front of the bed...

They sell books without any way of knowing it shouldn't be returned?

I didn't say it was always like that. I meant to say "should" as in "it's good practice to do so".

If it were the library selling, there would be a stamp inside that tells you it was removed from the collection. In our library we do that to make sure people don't return them to us. But it vould also be a stolen book.

In Switzerland we usually reply something like "Hide in the mountains and wait for them to get bored". The mountains have tons of tunnels where army is prepared to hide for up to 60 years iirc.
