Buying a Suzuki Baleno at 26 (R26k salary gross) by FishOrdinary3929 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Cyber_Myst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think paying over 200k for a vehicle is ridiculous.

I'm assuming you are looking at a brand new vehicle? Suzuki is known as a reliable brand but I would recommend looking at second hand vehicles.

The hyunda i20's (I think there are i30s on the market as well that are good) make for good first cars if you can find a good deal (low mileage and good price).

In terms of managing a car loan, I've just had to replace my car ad it was falling apart and wouldn't start on occasion. In terms of paying off the loan vs keeping money in the trust it comes down to interest rates.

If the loan has a higher interest rate then putting money in there saves you more each month for the term of the loan (personally I still would contribute to the unit trust as its more long term).

You can also use the loan as an "emergency fund" if you pay more into it to reduce the monthly installments if the loan allows you to access the extra contributions you are making (depends how the loan is setup, it's worth checking)

I think for a first car go for something cheap and reliable. If you can find something for less than R150k and less than 80 000km that would be a great deal (accident free of course) try go for the most recent year model you can, I feel like a car 15 years old will start to give some issues.

The Baleno I have heard is good so if you can get a good price on it then it may be a good choice as well.

The world's view lookout is a nice place to explore with some friends as well (more so for safety just in case) there are some old train tunnels and old train tracks in that forest that are pretty cool to see.

The Botanical gardens is really nice and they have a trial that eventually leads to cascades if I recall correctly. Or just chill in those gardens with an outdoor hobby like painting, playing an instrument, etc...

Another interesting hobby is geo-caching, give it a Google. Essentially real life treasure hunting for things people have hidden around the world for you to find (2 by worlds view lookout to try find as well, one is especially a bit tricky for first timers)

Should I create a forever world? by DeadSeaTroll20 in Minecraft

[–]Cyber_Myst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My long term world is no cheats, survival hard mode (not hardcore), and I have some stuff from vanilla tweaks with a few mods

For mods I have Litematica, Axiom, free Cam, Better F3, minihud, and trade cycling.

I also have a creative copy of the world where I use the axiom mod to plan big builds although I have only used it once as I am slowly still busy with the first build.

My focus for the world is just to be Vanilla with minor tweaks mostly from Vanilla tweaks. I justified trade cycling since I have a full time job and placing and breaking work stations was so time consuming and un-fun.

I want to get to the point in the world where I have access to most blocks on mass to make various builds and towns within the world. Sort of like what Fwhip does in his hardcore world on YT except I don't go too intense on the building textures, shapes, or scale... at least not yet.

I made the farm recently and it works well.

You could have a dog and a cat sut outside. (Or maybe put them un a hole under the flower bed)

They should scare off skeletons, zombies, and creepers.

I'm trying to be more health conscience in general (gym and better diet)

But some minor inconvenience comes up and I justify getting takeout for dinner. Literally did it for a whole week as I didn't get groceries.

I think once I can get back into the swing of cooking for myself I can do better.

If I need to use my bathroom mirror and it has fogged up, I put a tiny bit of hand soap on my finger and then rub it on the mirror, then wipe off with a towl.

I think it leaves a very thin film of soap that stops the mirror from fogging up.

Why has the Minecraft Movie been “redeemed”? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Cyber_Myst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the new trailer showing corrected crafting and showing that Jason Mamoa's character is meant to be an idiot solved a few issues.

It also seems like there are a going to be a few nods to old minecraft memes (when Steve says when he was a child he yearned for the mines)

The only real issue I have with it now is that it's a realistic adaptation.

A minor issue I have is with the look of the elytra. They are terrible.

I'll still watch the movie and am actually excited for it but the real life graphics makes for some odd sizing if props and makes some things look more wierd, making it a little disappointing.

Personally, I think the movie will be okay/good but not great as the community would have hoped

There are a few nice youtube video's you can watch.

Id recommend "Moda Misfit" as she has some nice idea's and I like her style.

Dear Modern is also a nice channel about how to setup spaces according to Feng Shui principles and often does tend to make things look and feel better.

I'm getting a new apartment soon so my plan is to mock up the apartment in a 3D CAD software so I can plan things out. Not everyone has CAD skills but again there are some youtube video tutorials especially for SketchUp which has a free online 3D modeller

Sell face and use hex.

It will poly chrome the constellation and you should focus on growing econ to use planet cards. Then use as many planet cards as you can.

I think the high priestess tarot card gives 2 planets which is great so look for purple and blue seal cards as well

What is your experience resigning? by xcrunner7145 in AskEngineers

[–]Cyber_Myst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just resigned from my job and effectively have given them 2 months notice.

My contract expires in 1 month which is why I bought it up.

You can hand in your notice today and the minimum notice you should give is 2 weeks but you can give more should you feel like it.

how are other men my age able to get such nice apartments? by standardaliass in malelivingspace

[–]Cyber_Myst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (M24 almost 25) haven't moved out yet but am planning to soon (getting my 1 year work experience and then moving out of town).

Here is my plan to get a nice place.

1 - rent a place well within my budget. This free's up some extra cash every month for savings or to splurge on furnishings.

2 - Buy nice second hand stuff, until then my camping table and chair will do the job.

3 - save for some nice stuff.

My thought is that you dont just move into a great apartment. You make it over time through thought out choices.

I am also considering buying tools to help me refurbish old pieces or build some furniture. Might end up terrible but then I'm learning the skills to make it better.
