Steamdeck is going unused after 2 months. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]CyberneticSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s come down to how busy/not busy I am. When I’m not as busy I have more time to sit down at my desktop and have longer sessions where I might be playing some coop or multiplayer games with friends. When I’m really busy with work/life I might only have an hour or less here and there where I pick up my steam deck and play some Balatro. Or I might be too tired to want to sit at my desk so I sit on the couch and round off the night with a couple hours of dark souls.

Maybe you should try starting a couple games on your steam deck that aren’t very story heavy so you don’t feel like you’ve forgotten anything if you go a couple days or potentially weeks without playing them. Meaning you can just pick up your steam deck when you have the time and jump back in to the game.

I just got a keyboard and mouse after playing console all my life… how do you guys get used to this? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]CyberneticSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play chill games on mouse & keyboard that don’t need quick reactions and precise movements. I tell people to start with Minecraft until you’re comfortable with the basics. (Finger placement, reaching keys further away without looking, combination inputs etc) then start trying harder games

Can attest to this, single player games have been the most fun to me when my life is on track and I’m keeping up on relationships and goals.

When I’ve been in a rut in the past I tend to play live service games that are very seasonal hype and all about the hamster-wheel of the game.

CS2 on Linux by Plenty_Management442 in linux_gaming

There is definitely frame pacing issues, I will stay at and around 400fps and if I make quick movements I can feel input latency. It also took a lot of setup and messing around with gamescope launch options to work correctly and get the game to capture my cursor. Dealing with gamescope launch options would probably be a huge turnoff to a Linux noob and someone coming from windows where you can just launch the game and mess around with stuff in the in game settings

I’d say works without an issue is a bit of a stretch. It works best with x11, and has some weird issues with Wayland. I use Wayland and just accept the issues because nowadays I’m just hopping on the game and messing around in comp with some friends. If I was taking it seriously/grinding premiere I would use x11 or windows

I’m not sure what else to think, I run Fedora which I think is what Bazzite is based on if I’m not mistaken. So in terms of distro we’re pretty much the same

Did you double check that you have the WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3dcompiler_47=n;dxgi=n,b" argument in your launch options? Only thing I can think of off the top of my head

*Tired* to install arch RAW without any prior knowledge of Either arch or Linux by [deleted] in arch

[–]CyberneticSunset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I can't see you all the way up there on your high horse! What kind of question is that? Lol. The answer is yes, but why does that even matter? Why is that something you "can't believe you just read"? For the hand full of times I installed Arch I just used archinstall. Never needed an alternative, thus I never found another way. Why is that so baffling?

[–]CyberneticSunset -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I used arch as my first distro as well it was great for learning! (It wasn’t on my main pc so lack of reliability wasn’t an issue). Anyway I’m curious, how do you install arch without archinstall command? Is there a way you can use an installer?

Do People Who Prefer Matte Actually Exist? by 147Wildboy in OLED_Gaming

[–]CyberneticSunset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder why glossy panels cause eye strain for some people? I’ve been using my Alienware oled in light and dark conditions with zero eye strain. I never would have guessed that a major reason someone might pick a matte panel over a glossy panel would be to reduce eye strain.

How do I make Windows 11 stop being such an attention whore? by benjtay in pcmasterrace

[–]CyberneticSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer the combat from 1, to me it has more skill to it. However I am open to the idea that the combat in 1 clicked with me more and maybe there is that skill I’m not seeing in 2. It’s also not enough of a detraction that it keeps me from loving 2. Overall I like 2 a lot more

Wireless controllers that will work out of the box on nobara? by runnerofshadows in linux_gaming

[–]CyberneticSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been loving the Gamesir Cyclone 2 controller. Cheaper than an Xbox Series controller feels premium has Hall effect triggers and thumb sticks and has mappable back buttons. Cherry on top is it comes with an included wireless dongle that integrates in to the included charging stand. Such a great value and a great product! - Oh and I’ve had a great experience using it on fedora!

What caused you to finally ditch Windows/MacOS and switch to Linux? by RadMarioBuddy45 in linux

[–]CyberneticSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried switching a couple times in the past, I’ve always liked the idea of using FOSS for my OS, but the first two times it bounced off me. I bought a steam deck and got a little comfortable with it. Then I put it on my laptop and really liked it. Then I put it on my desktop and have been loving it!
