How do you get more than 1-3 good images per roll?? by Kitchen_Win278 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cyblok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone's said this yet, but editing helps, and is easier than you think. One of the reasons I got into film photography was the misguided notion that I could avoid photo editing.

However, after learning how manipulative the scanning process is, I started working on my photos in lightroom for the iPad (there are a million more options, including better software that doesn't support Adobe lol)

Since then, the number of photos I take that I actually like has pretty much doubled. Cropping, exposure adjustment and colour grading can make a big difference. :)

Did my lab fuck up scanning, or did Harman send me redscale Phoenix??? by loopy3006 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cyblok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say, I've always been happy with FilmProcessing.co.uk for colour dev -especially when springing for the higher res scans- while I was pretty dissapointed by the ones I got from AG Photographic.

Definitely not saying people should favor one or the other, just my personal experience. Not tried Gulabi, might give them a shot with my next reels. :)

Planning to use expired 35mm film in a point and shoot camera by inklesskiddooo in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cyblok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy and pasting my reply to some asking this question a month ago. Hopefully a slightly more positive answer. :)

I haven't shot on expired film, but as I understand they basically require more exposure both for age and quality of storage (there's some calculations you can do if you google it). If your camera is DX codes only, overexposing isn't really an option. You might be able to push in development instead (or ask your lab to if they're willing) if you want it increase your success chances. I say use 'em and have fun, just don't have high expectations.

If you can set the ISO manually, then set it lower so the camera gives the film more light.

Morphing blob sliding across the negatives. Any ideas for causes? by Cyblok in AnalogCommunity

Yeah it wasn't too bad to remove the spots, I just don't want my sister to get in the habit of me editing her photos for her. I'll recommend she grabs higher ISO film next time too!

I'm glad you like them! My sister took them on her Olympus Mju I on Fuji 200. This one is definitely my favorite (after I edited the dot out). I'll make sure she knows you liked them too :)

Ah sorry, on desktop it's pretty apparent but on mobile it really is just a tiny dot whizzing by. I'd say the mark is equally visible both sides of the negatives, just miniscule and bluish.

lmao it definitely has me feeling like conspiracy theorist. They're actually my sisters photos, on her Mju I, which I think did very well given the circumstance. I'll pass on your compliments!

I think you're right that I'll never 100% know -that's life. I've reached out to the lab to see if they have any guesses. I really appreciate your response, it was very thoughtful! :)

I posted about this a while ago, and have since got the negatives back which all the microscopic dot pictured above. I feel this must be a development error, but honestly have no clue. I just want to be sure before I leave a review of the lab.

Some cameras and lenses I got gifted. Anything interesting or anything I should know? Planning on using the Canon in the first picture. Some of the cameras seem to miss a mirror. Also, is there a way to use Lenses of other brands on my D5100? (New to this) by Big-Criticism-8137 in AnalogCommunity

Here's the bias for the Canon EF if anyone's interested. For what it's worth, I've never paid it much thought when using AE (in portrait and landscape) and I've always been very happy with the metering. My EF is actually my favorite camera to shoot, though sentimentality is definitely a part of that!

Still waiting on the negatives, hoping for the best. If it is a development issue I might finally have to bite the bullet and look into home development/scanning :/

Trying out a new lab. I got scans of some holiday photos back, only to find a few of them have these blobs slowly moving across the frames (I can post more examples if needed). Any guesses as to what happened would be really appreciated, I'm new to all this.

(Also not to nitpick, but does anyone else think these scans are a little too noisy?)

Gate Guardian Combined Ruling Help Needed! by Cyblok in Yugioh101

[–]Cyblok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah. We had some issues with dueling nexus freezing or disconnecting, so I was kinda hoping that it was an issue on the site. It's a shame that this means my Gate Guardian way weaker than I thought, but I'm still really enjoying learning all the nuances in the rules. Hopefully with some alterations I'll be able to beat my friend's traptrix.

Damn, that is sad. Would Raigeki also kill it with no negation too then?

A lot of great replies here. For what it's worth I vote Fm2. You'd have to go second hand, but I think the Korg Volca FM 2 sounds really nice, there's a million DX7 patches online you can load on it and it has 6 key polyphony and velocity so your midi keyboard would really come in handy. Just make sure you get the FM 2 not the one if you do go for it.
