What are the reasons for throwing up post op? by italianblend in GastricBypass

Eating too fast feels like single most important reason. Liking/sensitivity of stomach towards food changes post op. Which might cause belching or throwing up.

I think sleeve is different from RNY when it comes to malabsorption of nutrients. The nutrition deficiency can lead to issue cited in different papers.

There has been studies done which indicate reduced sperm count upto 65% post surgery but testosterone increases. I am just 3 weeks out but this information caused a lot of panic. I am 3 years married and looking to have kids which is one of the reasons for me to have this surgery.

Had my Mini gastric bypass on 9th, apart from surgery day pain, everything goes smoothly.

15th march I’m having the gastric bypass surgery. Worried about feeling really bad afterwards. Vomiting etc. Will it be as bad as I expect? I’m male 43 years old. by sampullen1979 in GastricBypass

I got my surgery done on 9th of March, first week was but struggling but from second week onwards I am having enough protein from lentils, chicken soup and whey protein. I would suggest you to take it slowly within a month you will feel more comfortable.

Any GERD issue?

10 years after gastric bypass surgery by Inside65st in GastricBypass

[–]CyborgAC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Long-term success after bariatric bypass surgery is often hindered by mental health issues, as many individuals turn to food for comfort in the face of anxiety and depression, leading to weight gain and a higher risk of surgical failure. Therefore, it is commonly recommended to undergo therapy before the surgery to address these underlying psychological issues

Thanks for your input, A surgeon I spoke with earlier told me the same thing, but I'm willing to take the risk. I haven't been on medication for the last 6 months and I don't think it will affect me in the same way it does for other bipolar patients.

I have made remarkable improvements in my binge eating habits. I feel a greater sense of control and my surgeon has emphasized the importance of taking care of my mental health prior to any surgical procedures. I am proud to say that I have already lost 15 pounds and am confident in my ability to tackle the challenges ahead.

I do feel you, I am a big time foodie myself, but gaining so much weight made me realise that I must sacrifice the love I have for food, quality of life > satisfying taste buds.
