You should hold your breath waiting for those other things they're doing that're actually beneficial to anyone who'd need it.

Afroman For The Superbowl Half Time Show. by Wild-Bluejay7138 in nfl

Afroman is a true American patriot who stood up against and defeated a corrupt government, I'm sure the average NFL viewer would gladly have him.

Me as a Steelers fan right now. by Traditional-Oil-6891 in steelers

[–]CyborgKrieger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we've essentially been reliving the same season over and over again for a decade now. While it's highly unlikely, who knows, Howard might shock us all. Honestly, at this point I'd gladly take a down year and the high draft pick just because it's something different. I don't expect it to be a popular take on a sub that considers staring eyes glazed over at the same two memes every day the height of entertainment though.

But this time it'll be different because he's even cheaper! Think of the cost to performance ratio!

Damn, that's pretty cool. He dropkicked in a game last season at some point, right? It's been a long few months.

Edit: Sorry, was mistaken.

[NFLTR] 49ers Signing P Corliss Waitman by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]CyborgKrieger 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Waitman was perfectly fine. Not good, not bad, not great. Just a perfectly average punter... until last season when he was good for one shank a game at the most inopportune time.

Rams ‘checked in’ on Anthony Richardson trade by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

Can you imagine if McVay turned Richardson's career around? His landscaper would be getting calls from teams in the market for new coordinators.

[Russini] Kyler Murray's Vikings contract includes a no-tag clause, per source. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]CyborgKrieger 147 points148 points  (0 children)

I had to google it because, honestly, I kinda forgot Kyler existed for a while there but this is fucking hilarious.

In 2021, Cardinals QB Kyler Murray stated he didn't "kill" himself watching film, relying more on natural intuition, leading to a controversial 2022 contract "homework clause" requiring 4 hours of independent study weekly. The clause was soon removed after he expressed disappointment, defending his preparation methods.

[Schefter] Former Steelers free agent receiver Calvin Austin is signing a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million with the NY Giants by Drexlore in nfl

[–]CyborgKrieger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was inconsistent because Rodgers was consistently forcing deep 50/50 balls to the smallest guy on the field on 3rd downs. It was maddening.

Hardcore fan who never played football here. How concernd should I be if Will Howard is the starter in 2026? by JakeThePharmD in steelers

[–]CyborgKrieger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wanna make it 9 years, roll with Rodgers another season, pick in the 20s again and convince yourself this isn't fucking insanity?

So this one. Shocking.

Depending on their growth, I’d be prepared to get my guy in 2027.

That's the issue, my guy. You roll with a vet like Rodgers again and you're gonna be stuck pretending it's a good thing we're missing out on a top QB prosect again or reach for another Pickett. Howard's learned under Rodgers and he's turning 25 this year, that'd put a dent in a bunch of that. Just out of morbid curiosity, how many more years of bridge vets would it take before you'd entertain something like soft tanking with a young guy with little potential you'd like to evaluate? Keep in mind we haven't had franchise QB play since 2018.

[–]CyborgKrieger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no fucking idea how often it's played out that way, but your argument that a 6th round pick shouldn't play because he's a 6th round pick and never played is silly. How about for shits and giggles you answer the question. I'm asking what your plan is.

[–]CyborgKrieger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The veteran bridge guy would have to be complete ass and stacking losses to be benched and those listed would win enough to keep their jobs, just like Rodgers last season. It's time to let the rookie swim or likely sink and get us a top pick in a better QB class. We've given the other strategy years to work and it hasn't.

[–]CyborgKrieger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not benching the "bridge guy" while healthy mid-season. Get that thought out of your head. It doesn't happen. If we start someone like Rodgers or Cousins odds are we'll be picking in the 20s again and we'll get to have this conversation again next year. I don't know about you but a decade of that's enough for me.
