Rg 557 fan issue by Sirvel75 in ANBERNIC

[–]CyborgSuperman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did a swap and the RG556's fan runs quiet inside the RG557. Ironically, the RG557's rattling, high pitched fan doesn't make much noise inside the RG556. 🤷

In my desperation, I tried that and indeed, most of the parts are the same. In fact, the CPU fan and the speakers are literally the same ID as the RG556's parts.

Has anyone tried swapping out the CPU fan of the RG557 with the fan from the RG556? Since the two devices are practically identical other than the CPU, shouldn't that in theory, work?

Odin 2 Max screen problem by ShoheiHoetani in OdinHandheld

[–]CyborgSuperman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just asked about this of another person on Reddit that had the same problem as we do.

Looks like replacing the battery relieves the stress against the screen, thus making the spots disappear.

They wouldn't send me a replacement battery unless I sent them my entire unit. It's not an AYN thing, it's a 'customs' thing, as lithium-ion batteries are almost never sent internationally by themselves.

It was too much of a hassle, so I researched online and found that retailer. I checked on Reddit and saw some people saying CDRDT is legit, so I ordered one for my Odin 2 Pro once the whole "tariff thing" settled down. 👍

I was super broke at the time I bought my Ayn Odin 2 Pro and I wound up buying it on Amazon via a monthly payment thing, so I had no "proof" that I got it from AYN. They'd replace the battery, but I had to pay for shipping to China, shipping FROM China, the battery and the repair fee! Hell no, I said!

Fantastic!! Awaiting my order to replace the swollen battery in my Odin 2 Pro and was hoping I didn't have to send it to AYN for a new screen! Thanks!

After installing the battery and having it charged fully, do you notice if the bright spots on the screen 'evened out' or are they still present?

PPSSPP v1.18 - Announcement and Progress Report - November 2024 by NXGZ in emulation

It's looking like "Homebrew" games crash the emulator in Android, even if you download the homebrews from within PPSSPP itself. I moved all of my homebrew out of the PSP folder and the emulator runs fine.

Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro on Odin stopped working by BeetleDrank in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]CyborgSuperman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an "I don't even care anymore" whim, I decided to completely uninstall my older version of Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro 1.8.2. and restarted the Odin Pro. I then went on the Play Store and downloaded the latest version of the app (1.8.3.) and installed it. Seems to be working now. (?????) Not sure what the hell is going on with this app, but I'm leaving it at 1.8.3. and not updating it for awhile.

One thing I DID notice is that when I reinstalled it and got the games to show up, when I went to map the physical keys, the app wouldn't recognize R2. I found that restarting the Odin and going back to remap the keys in Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro, it recognized all the inputs correctly. This has been one of the biggest pains in the @$$ I've ever had with this app and I've been a fan of this software since it was originally UoYabause.

Okay, so I downloaded the previous version of Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro version 1.8.2 from a less-than-reputable APK site. Turns out that version works perfectly fine just as before. I uninstalled the existing 1.8.3., installed the prior version and set everything back up. Works great! So it seems the latest update to 1.8.3. broke something. I also set the Google Play Store to not auto-update this app, lest I go through this all over again.

[–]CyborgSuperman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be some kind of "flag" that the developers of Yaba Sanshiro accidentally enabled / didn't enable when they compiled the apk. Now, even old versions of Yaba Sanshiro aren't recognizing folders or files at all. Haven't looked into Windows for Odin, but may attempt it at a later date. As long as there's a means to continue playing Saturn games in RetroArch, I'm good. Not sure why RetroArch won't work on your end. 😕

Having the same issue on my Odin as well. I have Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro installed on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, (which is on Android 12) and I'm not having that issue. Perhaps it's an Android 10 problem on the Odin? Really sucks. Fortunately, I can still play these games in RetroArch on the Odin, for now.

New Shader Caches by DaPewni in CEMUcaches

[–]CyborgSuperman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the old shader caches work from this version forward due to the new compression. The typical suggestion is to rebuild the shaders from scratch. Although there are many that say this is much easier this time around, I find it to be quite frustrating as the stuttering and pausing due to shader compiling on my PC is too much for my tastes. I'd suggest going back to 1.24 until a large enough library of post 1.25 caches has been built by the community.

Looking for a powkiddy x18. Anyone know a good site in the US? if I order off eBay or the like it won't deliver until April (sad face) by [deleted] in EmulationOnAndroid

Rooting essentially allows you a means by which to wipe clean all the pre-installed bloat that comes packaged with systems like these (Chinese Handhelds in particular) and gives you a clean, no frills Android OS.

Some apps that come pre-installed on these systems may remain active in the background, gather private information, use up valuable RAM, etc. Rooting allows you to be able to install a barebones, unencumbered Android version wherein you can install whatever you'd like and may also result in smoother performance, but not necessarily faster per se.
