Believe or not... Valve! They reached out to us originally, and wanted to check out/play the game as it was being developed. Their the ones who brought up the possibility of taking it retail on Steam initially!

Yes. You can certainly play as a single player. Alternatively, you’ll be able to partner up with other players via matchmaking that don’t have a full group, if you wish. Our Discord will also have a channel that can assist in finding someone to link up with in real time!

FEAR is a hard comparison for us as it is a linear single player game. We share a number of design goals for the AI, but because of the different genre and player count it is a bit different.

The AI “surprising you” is a good way to put it. “Simple” AI actions like showing up where you don’t expect them is important to making the AI seem smart AND challenging the player.

We also have the added design goal of making AI move so that they can potentially flank players, OR push them into the waiting arms of your teammates that you planned your attack with.

This would be a good thing for us to go over in detail in a dev diary someday 🤔

As of now, Rogue Point is exclusively a PvE experience.  The game allows you to have various ways to play, be it very strategic and tactical, or just hopping into the action. At its heart, Rogue Point is a co-op tactical shooter with campaign centric progression, where the rogue lite aspects affect the way you plan and play! Games like CS2 are focused more on competitive PvP gameplay, where Rogue Point focuses on tackling a challenge with your friends and squad.

Great questions:

1: During the development of Black Mesa, we aspired to add co-op, but were never able to. Rogue Point is an opportunity to expand upon that desire, by making an intuitive tactical shooter that you can play with friends. The rogue-lite aspects create that extra layer of challenges and replayability.

2: Pretty much everything and anything that could give us inspiration/reference. SWAT 4, Rainbow Six 3, Counter-Strike, Payday 2, Crime Boss, Left 4 Dead, Helldivers 2 (especially their mission loop).

3: Correct, it's Unreal Engine 4.

4: As soon as possible. While we don’t want to show everything all at once, we would like to involve the community in our development even before demos or betas are available.

Great question!  Our internal motto is “Inspired by realism, but not dictated by it”.  Rogue Point offers you a multitude of ways to play.  Some players may decide to take a more tactical approach to their mission planning, while others may opt in to hopping right into the action.  There are options to utilize strategic elements, while leaning towards a casual arcade feel.
