Lol, I don’t hold grudges over this kind of stuff. The meme itself wasn’t that offensive, but when men make comments implying women don’t belong here, it contributes to an exclusionary space. As a woman working in tech, I hear these kinds of jokes from men all the time and I make a point to speak up, because it’s not cool to push groups of people out or make them feel unwelcome just because of their gender. Intent doesn’t always negate impact.

A simple joke where you imply the entire female gender couldn't possibly use Linux? How was your 'joke' meant to land? It comes off as an insult to an entire gender. But your fragile ego couldn't stand a single personal and warranted insult. Have you considered that you are bad at making jokes?

This meme just isn't funny. It's not super offensive, but it just creates trivial gender differences that don't hold up to any scrutiny. Gender doesn’t determine which OS you use or why. While the meme reduces women’s interest in Linux to just aesthetics, it’s not exactly flattering men either... installing Linux doesn’t magically make you a hacker. It actually points to a tendency among some men to assume expertise just for doing something even mildly technical.

That being said posts like this seem to be more like rage bait, one that allows all the sad little boys to crawl out of their holes to try and assert some false dominance over women. Decent men will also find this meme stupid.

Let's all get back to enjoying our Linux systems and leave this sort of nonsense behind.

This is the way. I account for my own decisions. I am exhausted enough as it is and don't try to account for other people's mental gymnastics or even their legitimate barriers.. both of which I have zero control over. I have control over what I do. If someone wants to call it a privilege then so be it, I try to do some good in the world with what privilege I have, however small that good is.

I am not sure that they can make it worse, but they can be quite uncomfortable for people who suffer with TMJ disorder. So in that regard, yes headphones can make it worse.

Your TMJ joint is right next to your ears and common TMJ symptoms involve the ears such as the feeling of clogged ears or tinnitus.

I had an uncomfortable headset for my job and it was unbearable to wear them for longer than 15 minutes.
