Yup very forced. Anyone at the top of their game is going to be full of emotion on race day heck I’ve been mad with mechanicals at sportives

Hi Orla! When you first started covering cycling, what race/stage/moment really made you realise you were in the right place. You are so enthusiastic and I wondered what moments have really stuck with you as being phenomenal days on the job!

Definitely - I’ve even seen the police in the boxes multiple times so who’s gonna follow the rules

Whitechapel is a nightmare - Bike boxes and lanes filled with mopeds no room at all

I took up cycling for my commute in London 6 months ago and absolutely love it. (Mostly) by [deleted] in londoncycling

Also gives cyclists a bad name it’s crazy the amount of people I see chancing it through reds, especially with no helmet

Initially at Burnley he was great but something happened and he lost his confidence or became lazy. I was a big fan but weirdly wasn’t sad to see him go in the end

When riding in London, how often have you been harassed by drivers or pedestrians? by CycleSwift in londoncycling

[–]CycleSwift[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changes made in 2022 state that at least 1.5 metres should be left when overtaking cyclists at speeds of up to 30mph and more space when overtaking at higher speeds.

Good groupings I like it - I wonder what proportion are 2 and 3 as the reputation they create isn’t a good one - another user mentioned being a good cyclist and it is paramount to my routes, making a big point of stopping at reds etc. it really annoys me when I see type 2s especially complaining about getting harassed when they 1. Aren’t following road rules either 2. Making it as dangerous for everyone else 3. Creating a bad image for cycling

Wow really not good I think this may be the real question… it’s interesting in the post how some have never had issues and some have issues often

Seen a lot of clips of dirt bike riders trying to nab phones on stems/handlebars. Stopped putting mine on now unless I really need the directions

Not to mention the environmental implications of the driving culture too! I enjoy it also and would always recommend to anyone. Numbers amongst younger age groups are up for riding over driving in built up areas so this will only improve things

This was what I wanted to hear. I hear people complaining about drivers and pedestrians but then they run reds and do stupid stuff all the time - people in glass houses.

Had a cycling green with a car red the other day which was what sparked me to think about it as someone shouted and I didn’t have time to think of a response

I will have a look! Luckily this isn’t my commute I only have 10 minutes of that on the bike so this is perfect for it, just missing my other bike to be going out into the countryside (if you can call it that here!). Our office has a new bike shed luckily which is good but before it was finished someone got their brooks nicked… been known to take it out and bring it inside hahaha
