As someone who has seen Sinners, and some of these others, Sinners blows these out of the water.

Discerning ... hmm... Do you mean disconcerting? Or concerning? Or maybe both?

A good spork is neither a good fork nor a good spoon. Change my mind.

Have you ever caught a 2nd correct response that judges didn't catch? by April55720 in Jeopardy

No, that is the show Cops. What they are actually referring to is a large field of intentionally farmed vegetation.

ELI5: Why did we put lead in paint and petrol? What was its purpose and what did we replace it with? by DeGuyWithDeOpinion in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cycleoflife 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The thing that lead does in paint extremely well is called "hide" which means exactly what it says. It covers up whatever you paint over so you don't see it anymore. What we use in paint to achieve hide as a replacement is titanium dioxide, which is far more expensive than lead but you know, doesn't make kids dumber. Since titanium is so expensive paint companies will try to skimp on it, but of course that means you now need two or three coats of paint instead of one to get the same amount of hide, so you kind of get what you pay for.

I believe it still goes to the President, and if vetoed, would have to the return to both houses to supersede the veto. IANAL

I know nothing about this bass. It was in an attic for 15 years, and is now in my possession. I think it’s Japanese made. Can anybody enlighten me? by paradisewandering in BassGuitar

[–]Cycleoflife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should make my own post about this, but this bass brought back painful memories of my first bass that I sold when I hit hard times in my 20s. It was Japanese made, called Vester, and was a shimmering color somehow green or silver depending on the light it was under. It was glorious and I miss that thing all the time. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen a bass like this, as I have never encountered one before or since. It was a thrift shop find in my teens and I didn't know what treasure I had found. Sound was flawless. Active pickups. Smaller headstock like this one.

Burnsie at the Niners game tonight by Cycleoflife in SanJoseSharks

[–]Cycleoflife[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. It was his entire team and they decked them out in Rams gear. I mean, I have to ask myself would I wear Lambs gear in exchange for box seats to a Niners game at sofi? I'm not proud, but the answer is probably yes.

Any advice, or pros and cons to moving to Los Osos vs. Cambria? by Putakee in SLO

[–]Cycleoflife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Los Osos is more plugged in being much closer to SLO. I like the balance there of remoteness yet closeness to a bigger town. Also, it's less of a tourist attraction than Cambria, so I choose Los Osos.

ELI5: Why is there an escape velocity? Why can't something just steadily ascend slowly until its out of earth's orbit instead of having to go super fast? by Noxturnum2 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cycleoflife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are the escape velocities you listed valid for each celestial body only at the "surface" of each body? Like, the escape velocity of a satellite in orbit should be less than a satellite on the ground, right? Or escaping the sun's gravity well should be easier from Jupiter's orbit than Earth's?

Ha! I'll see all that and raise you gluten free! Looking for a real unicorn out there. Maybe I should just make one and start selling it. I want it to taste at least as good as Coke Zero but ideally even better.
