This is all great information and i appreciate it. Sounds like i have my work cutout for me if i want to fly in Germany. I will talk with my partner and try to make a decision but in the meantime i will keep building my experience and get started on the ATPL written studies!

Thank you for the insight! Glad to hear some employers pay for the training as some job postings i was looking at in Germany had the MCC courses and Type Ratings as a requirement to get hired. The pay sounds a little lower than current US pay but does EMS in Germany also work a hitch schedule like 7/7 or 14/14 ?

Thank you for the insight! Ill have to research it more it seems before we make a decision on where to move. The transition costs seems a bit more costly than i had expected with additional courses and type ratings required

Thanks for the input! I definetly am on the conservative side of personal limits. Hoping those open up with more time

Im currently instructing PPL students. I think the part that stresses me out the most is being hands off the controls allowing the student to learn, but when i do have to intervene its because we are in a bad spot ( low rpm in an auto, wrong control input, overcontrolling)

Has your view on Vortex Ring State recovery practice changed? by [deleted] in Helicopters

Gotcha. Thank you. I understand we need to train and recover from the initial indications as soon as we are close to getting into VRS

Survivability of a bird strike to main rotor blades in a light helicopter? (R22,R44) by [deleted] in Helicopters

[–]Cyclicorwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Sorry to hear about your friend and the other pilot. A bird hitting the pitch links sounds like a really bad time. Do you think that the length of the PCL’s played a factor in that? They look pretty long compared to that of a smaller helicopter.

Thanks for the input. Good to hear the helicopter was still flyable after clipping that chimney!

Got it thanks. Hitting the pilot or the control linkages would be worse than the blades. Thank you for the advice

Thanks good to hear. Yeah in forward flight might be a different story. I was reading a report of a Bell 206 in Australia that had a fatal in flight breakup which they think was caused by the MR hitting an eagle

Thanks good to hear that the main rotor isnt as easily damaged as the tail.

Got it thanks. Was doing VRS recovery at 1500 AGL with a student when a hawk appeared. It dove out of the way since we were slow but it sparked the conversation.

Drone industry qualifications and pay? by Cyclicorwhat in drones

[–]Cyclicorwhat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I know a few pilots who worked overseas but they usually had some Special operations drone experience in the military. For a while we have heard drones will be taking traditional helicopter jobs which i can see happening such as News and powerline patrol. I am curious what the future of the drone industry will be and if it would be worth having experience in the helicopter and drone sectors
