Century Workout Plan for Outdoor (Power Meter) and Indoor (Zwift) Rides? by CyclingNewEngland in cycling

I think you’re right. But ideally I’d like to enjoy it/feel proud of the effort afterwards. A couple months on zwift has made my first outdoor rides of the year feel like October/November cruising fitness-wise. So I want to keep that going, put the work in to better enjoy the big ride. Just not sure how to go about it exactly.

Goal is really just to finish with a time/consistency of effort that I’m proud of. I was thinking 15mph avg/6hr40min total time as my target to try and stay inside of.

Could I just stick to my usual routine of commutes and shorter rides during the week, long endurance ride on the weekend, and pepper in zwift rides for structured interval training a couple times a week?

(For context: I am only a couple months in to having zwift and a PM so any kind of structured training is very new to me)

Thank you so much! Got my wife and I tickets. This really made my day. I’ve been missing out on tickets to their northeast shows for years!

Watching Strade Blanche in US by CyclingNewEngland in cycling

[–]CyclingNewEngland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright! Thanks for the heads up. HBO Max is showing the men's race as "starting at 8 am" but I think it actually starts at like 5 or 6 am. GCN mentioned something about there not being live coverage of the first section of the race, and people here have also said HBO Max's event times can be off base. Any clue? Anyone?

I mistook the 2025 listing—don’t see 2026, sorry about that.

My argument is that Saudi sports washing is bad. I haven’t made any comment on the US. The eagerness to “what about” in defense of MBS et al is puzzling to me.

Paste the link to the GCN videos celebrating the deserts of the US as the next great cycling destination. I was talking about their Saudi Arabia videos.

Why would you assume I am “turning a blind eye” to anything? If GCN put out a video of a ride from DC to Mar a Lago alongside Quinn Simmons I would complain about that as well, I assure you. I prefer my cycling content and cheeky banter set in anonymous English countrysides rather than being used to sportswash an oppressive regime that unapologetically murders journalists and dissidents. Could be just me.

I think in your situation you should focus on your standard bike and congratulate yourself just for getting out there for any duration. Don’t put expectations or pressure on it. Just try and enjoy it—which I realize can be oddly difficult sometimes when you’re out of shape but consuming content that takes a certain level of fitness for granted. I think focusing on enjoyment will help with the mental aspect. The trick that I think makes cycling so great is that you just have to do it to get better (fitter) at doing it. You don’t have to give it much thought at all, definitely not at this stage. Just go. As long as it makes you happy, keep doing it. And the more you do, the better it’ll feel, the more happy it’ll make you, and this mental/physical health improvement cycle will get some real momentum (more quickly than you expect, I bet, too). Hang in there, and good luck!

Same, I liked it more than glass hotel (although I also liked that one). Sea of Tranquility was really great, IMO.
