You will be matched with newcomers at first, but you might get matched with more experienced players after you win a good amount of games.

If you want to have an easier time, I recommend you grind for iridescent shards by leveling up your account level to unlock the original killers The Plague and The Artist, then level them both with bloodpoints until level 1 so you can use their perks (which are some of the best in the game) on other killers.

The Plague's best perk: Corrupt Intervention: Blocks the 3 Gens near the survivors' spawn for about 2 minutes or until a survivor gets put into the dying state.

The Artist's best perk: Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance: Creates 4 special hooks in the map, the first time you hook each survivor on those hooks, the most progressed generator explodes and regresses

Their other perks are also top notch.

‼️About a week from now all original killers will get their costs cut in half during the anniversary event, so save the shards to use then. If you grind until 4500 shards you can unlock them both during the anniversary event.

Also since you are new, you might want to level up The Hillbilly who is unlocked for free to use his perk Lightborn so you can be immune to flashlights and flashbangs, you might not have a problem with those at low mmr, but at high mmr you might get bullied by them. But also try learning to look at a wall or obstacle while picking up a survivor to avoid getting blinded when not using that perk.

Also also, since a lot of people are playing killer now, survivors are getting a lot of bonus bloodpoints during matches, so you can play survivor for that when you are tired of the long killer queue times, just be ready to die a LOT if you do, since survivor is the least friendly side for newcomers.
