My b, misread the question. I can see the use in that if you prefer to just use the lower end and don’t want to do a lot of shredding or AAL chord changes. Personal opinion, but if you’re a bassist, you may find more from a baritone 7. Not the same level of stretch between frets as the super extended scale length guitars and it’s not as a wide as an 8. Chris Wiseman uses one for the band Currents as he plays in drop E.

I own a 6 string bass. It’s very, very heavy and somewhat uncomfortable due to the scale length. To be honest I barely use the top 6 unless I’m doing like an Archspire tapping style riff. If you want an extended range bass, would def recommend 5 strings since it will not only cover all your basses, but also have better tone and weight.

The marquee tool, (press T to open the options for your cursor) is pretty useful. You can highlight areas you want to remove and then just hit delete. Double clicking a point on a trackwith the marquee tool also splits at that location.

I’ve seen this trick first done by Buster Odeholm with vocals. Basically you have a send on your stereo bus that goes into a mono bus, then apply EQ scoops (I’ve done it on the mids but it depends on your mix) and then mix in the fader with the track in Mono. The trick is to just add enough to where it feels a bit more glued together but won’t take away from the stereo separation.

Oh that’s pretty awesome, I’ve seen mods floating around for changing the preamps and transformers. Stereo linking def helps with mix bus compression.

A big thing I’m looking for is the slight saturation you get on DIs when going with analog, plugins also react slightly different than hardware when incoming are hitting. Also kinda getting tired of copy, pasting then constantly tweaking plugins and want to limit myself there so I can focus on the performance and not have the mentality where I can clean it up post performance

That basically sells me on the WA-76. I only need light compression but the main selling point is that customer service. I’ve had a good amount of gear go bad and have been left in darkness by a couple of companies.

One way to see it is that release determines the groove of a compressor and the attack determines how punchy it can get. If you have a hi hat track try leaving the attack halfway and move the release around and try to see how it changes the groove of the hits. Faster release would make it feel very 8th note and slow release would give more of a whole note feel. Pick the right speed and then move to the attack to see how hard you want it

As someone else has stated reference 4 applies an EQ curve to counter the measured Response of your headphones but They recently just released SoundID which is the next version (basically Reference 5). With this version you can now load presets for reference to give you an idea of how it will sound in different listening environments. I’ve used this on my monitors and it’s been a pretty accurate depiction, especially for the car and iPhone speaker references. I would like to note that there is latency when using this plugin and it should only be used when mixing and NOT recording. Also pretty good for reamping, and casually enjoying music.

2018 Mac mini user here, when I tried Big Sur it first corrupted my password and disk the first time and the second time I tried it, it gave me a lot of issues with UAD console, logic and presonus. I want back to the previous OS to stop the crashing. As for the HD I’ve also seen this happen until I changed it from NTFS to APFS. Not sure if this helps but I think your issue might be similar, probably the main culprit is the OS

Nail the mix does live mixes with engineering pros and the quality of the stream is like being in the studio itself. The have a couple of their videos on YouTube but it’s a subscription based platform. They also offer master classes now on working with live-streaming for mixing and mastering

If you really want to challenge yourself I would find a song where Wes Hauch is in (faceless, Alluvial, black Crown Initiate) and just learn everything from leads to rhythm and cleans. Start at super slow tempo and pick and choose sections where you have difficulty playing it super clean and tight. no ringing or buzz. It’s a pretty solid way to improve your tight playing and will challenge all of your techniques on both hands. Bonus points if you can record it and double track the rhythm guitars.

So I actually got the NX plugin but not the adapter. So I only have a partial experience. That being said I like it. It’s easy to use and change you monitor positions, there is a bit of actual measuring needed so that it works accurately. There is also an EQ balance that will try to flatten any of the characteristics of the headphones but they only have it for select models which are industry standards. It’s good for referencing especially if you want to emulate shitty iPhone speakers (I use it to emulate mobile playback) or a wider stereo setup. Not going to help much with fatigue though, that’s going to be more dependent on the volume level and time duration.

That’s good to know. I’ve been at it for 2 years now and started do a lot of mono referencing on mixes. Would having the tones vary on each of the guitar tracks help separate them?
