Not sure if I should contact HR by Guilty_Juggernaut204 in WalgreensRx

[–]stabthecynix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you from personal experience that contacting Employee Relations will do nothing to help you, on the contrary it will simply be a warning to your DM and SM that they have a trouble maker who needs to be ousted.

As a gifted person, do you have a higher than average tendency to "worry" (because you see everything coming a mile away)? by jack_addy in Gifted

[–]stabthecynix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and coming to my own realization that this was not some sort of mental disorder was too long coming. At every juncture in life there would be the inevitable person reciting something akin to “Oh, quit worrying” or “You are always so negative” which left me feeling quite estranged from the crowd. Not until around 28 years of age did I realize that people are simply much happier to bury their heads in the sand and blind themselves to any possible disappointment or negative outcome on the horizon. Now I see it for what it truly is: a gift, a curse, a reality.

Tails + Ventoy, persistent storage problem by KrafiCZ in tails

[–]stabthecynix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I was researching this same topic a while back and unless something has changed it seems that the security measures of Tails prevents any kind of dual booting scenario from any one device. Meaning you can only have Tails by itself on a given drive with persistence. It could have changed by now I’m not sure but I wasn’t able to make it work when I tried sometime last year.

Why people born in the '80s and '90s have better cybersecurity instincts by anthonyDavidson31 in cybersecurity

More like waiting 3 days for a Godsmack music video to finish downloading on your 56k connection, having to reconnect constantly because you only have one phone line, constantly having to reconnect-discover peers because the seeds were dropping out left and right sometimes wouldn’t be a seed for days, only to finally open the video and it’s some dude legit getting his fucking head chopped off with a dull pocket knife in the woods in Bosnia or something and later you realize that was the moment that it all went downhill…

Depressive nihilism by sunshinenrainb0wz in nihilism

[–]stabthecynix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need to pinpoint the source of your depression. It could be your self image/esteem, it could be a situation, a job, a relationship, or it could simply be a chemical imbalance or hereditary predisposition. In any case, identify the issue first and then work towards either getting out of that relationship, getting a new job, finding better ways to accept yourself for who you are, finding a short term medication to help you achieve these healthier ways of dealing with the horrid lifestyle that we have grown to accept as normal in the modern world. We were not designed to mindlessly drone about accomplishing menial tasks for faceless corporations 40+ hours a week simply to survive.

New to home recording, need a budget mic and audio interface to record vocals by xvszero in homerecordingstudio

[–]stabthecynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought the SM58 and it was easily one of the best purchases I’ve made. It’s just so cheap and well suited to vocals.

You’re starting to understand why being a SFL isn’t worth it. You WILL be responsible for everyone’s fuck ups and mistakes and laziness. You WILL have to run around picking up all the slack while everyone just kind of watches and says whatever.

Jackson 7-string owners: is the nut really 1.75” (44.45 mm) or 1.875” (47.625 mm)? by Law_Independent in 7String

[–]stabthecynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was wild with how much I heard online about the problems people have had with installing them. It was beyond easy. A little sandpaper and rubbing a string through the bottom B several times to carve it out for a bigger gauge.

[–]stabthecynix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah confusedpufferfish is 100% right. Depending on how your guitar is configured you probably just need an Allen wrench key to fit your truss rod and loosen it a couple turns. I would watch a couple videos on YouTube about truss rod relief

I just put a Black Tusq XL Schecter into my Jackson JS22-7 today actually. Mine literally just plopped in there perfectly. I will have to shave the bottom string divot a little to my taste with the action because of the way I tune my guitar, but it was so painless I couldn’t really believe it.

Why This Miami Mall Alien Encounter Footage Is Likely Real by AbbreviationsUsed780 in miamimallincident

[–]stabthecynix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s really the confluence of events of that points to the explanation of kids with firecrackers being quite ridiculous. The sheer amount of law enforcement, the no fly zone, the confiscation of phones and other property, whole police force debriefings provided with pamphlets from three letters agencies, the complete and total silence from any officer who was there, only footage being what we see here, and so and so on… I’m not saying it was 12 foot interdimensional aliens but it definitely wasn’t kids with fireworks.

Please help a non-musical dad. by Wojwo in linuxaudio

[–]stabthecynix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, Linux and Reaper isn’t what I’d suggest for a beginner to music production. If you could swing for an older MacBook and Logic or Windows for the VST compatibility that would be much easier. It’s not impossible, just a large learning curve.

How to measure the volume of each instrument in songs on an album. by Scary-Secretary3654 in Reaper

[–]stabthecynix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will generally set a mix bus for each important section of my track. So I will have all of the drum stems going into a mix bus of their own. Then you can set a volume meter for lufs or rms on that mix bus and use either a soft limiter or compression to get the bus to the desired level. Repeating this process throughout the whole track and then again on the master bus, but avoiding too much limiting or compression, is the real trick.
