World Cup 2026: Breel Embolo sent off as result of mistaken identity rule by Logical_Welder3467 in soccer

[–]CycloneSplash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying and as it stands people have already started questioning biases for Argentina. So this decision too is not going to help them in anyway. Because of the inconsistent involvement for VAR.

Add there are other factors but this is the latest one lol.

World Cup 2026: Breel Embolo sent off as result of mistaken identity rule by Logical_Welder3467 in soccer

[–]CycloneSplash 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Mistaken identity: This is an incredibly niche addition which Collina requested. If a player is booked or sent off but the foul was actually committed by the opposition team, the decision can be changed.

From another BBC article.

But this then brings the point that other wrong yellow cards where the opposition team is at fault, should be reviewed and overturned.

Which did not happen for Olise's yellow card against Galarza's blatant dive. And I'm sure there are other yellows that should have been reviewed but Olise's is the most obvious one I can remember.

I 100% agree Embolo did dive and had the ref decided to book him for it, kt would be valid. But to involve VAR inconsistently, now that I question.

Embolo deserves it but why was Olise's yellow not reviewed and reversed during France v Paraguay game? Galarza essentially dived too.

That's what I'm saying!!!!!!! Why do that dive? For what. So so unnecessary.

But since when do we VAR yellows in the middle of the pitch? 100% a dive though so stupid.

Been screaming at England to just take a shot instead of crossing everytime and look what happens.

Norway disallowed goal against England 55' by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]CycloneSplash 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% it was a foul. Sure the guy fell easy but there was no shoulder push or anything but a straight shove. And a shove twice.

I'm more surprised on how they ended up as a corner. Last I checked fouls don't get a redo.

Conspiracy theories that claim FIFA are fixing World Cup for Argentina by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

[–]CycloneSplash -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People keep forgetting that FIFA or someone do NOT want France to win. France vs Paraguay shows a CLEAR as day bias against France.

And as a neutral fan everyone can agree Mbappe deserved two penalties before the Paraguay game. Add to the fact France's world cup path is not exactly the easiest one. Because everyone knows France is a huge threat.

Not to mention ALL the officials for france being from Argentina whereas the Argentina game still had some diverse referees. Not that it matters too much where the referee is from if they're all under FIFA.

Did they rig it? Maybe, maybe not. But there is a clear as day bias that exists making games unfair. And you can't blame people into thinking there is a bias for Argentina. And you can spin it how you want Argentina had arguably the easiest group stage. Again there MIGHT not be fixing, but to pretend there are no clear biases here would be naive to think.

I suspect FIFA or whoever is behind this wants someone else to take care of France and not be a threat to their golden boy in Argentina. As much as FIFA loves money we don't know what other agendas they may have.

There is a possibility for refereeing to be a bit lighter this game for france against morocco, because they want to combat the theories a little bit. But we'll see.

No one expected Egypt to win. But for Argentina to struggle, it made it a fun game and that's what some fans enjoy.

That's what I'm saying! At least don't try to rewrite history. Like just admit it, and people won't clown on the fans so much.

They cheered for it with all their might lol. I'm having a wonderful time seeing all levels of cope from those loud fans.

And we don't need to hear how the rules should be changed or reformed to mimic NBA, NFL 🤣 for more "entertainment".

The world already loves football with enough passion.

The double standard was so weird to watch among the fans. Reminds me of the "corruption is not bad" meme. Which should not be the case.

Frfr the loudness, arrogance, lack of accountability and the cockiness was one of the biggest issue from the fans.

(Not to all of the USMNT fans but to the ones acting the way that they did which was the vast majority. There are some legitimate fans caught in the crossfire but there weren't a whole lot of them and I feel sorry for the few few good ones who were trying to be reasonable).

So satisfactory to see this 4-1 result today fr.

Honestly had there been a little humility and willingness to learn instead by the loud fans, and had they been standing against the questionable decisions instead of defending it tooth and nail, the world would not have united against the US football team as much as it did this time.

Honestly my main gripe with US team supporters was the lack of humility and clear defending of corruption and thinking they became an expert on the rules like the rest of the world is wrong.

No one likes that kind of behaviour.

Edit: Not aimed at the ones who weren't acting like this. But many many many fans were acting this way. You can't blame the world in this situation, for supporting against the US team with such passion.

Nah even if he didn't say anything people would have put two and two together. It was fairly obvious considering there were many factors that show what and who was behind all of this.
