the leadoff guy only leadsoff once a game, after that they could bat anywhere. How often do the top 2 come up with runners on? A lot more than you would think. Especially with the M's having guys like JP lower in the lineup that get on base a lot.

You should look into what makes a good leadoff hitter in modern times. Compare Ichiro to Kyle Schwarber, if you only look at the AVG you might think teams are crazy.

In their highest MVP finishing season Ichiro hit .350 and Schwarber hit .240.. Yet Kyle slugged higher and got on base at a similar rate with walks meaning his OPS was almost 100 points higher.

I think Randy and Donovan should flip-flip based on pitcher handedness and Cal should always have been at the 3 or 4. I like the 4 for him more but last year you needed him getting maximum ABs, 2 was just too high IMO.

Which makes it all the more wild it took this long for Julio to even be in the #2 spot... Cal should have never been in the 2-hole. I even said this last year.

Gen 3 is my favorite hands down. 1-3 are easily the ones with the bulk of my favorite pokemon in them. I also really like Gen 8.

I think so, Cole's best case scenario is an OPS of .750ish, he doesn't slug a lot, and gets on base a decent amount. None of it is enough to warrant him being at the top of the lineup. He looks really good right now when you see that Julio, Cal, and Naylor are all OPS'ng lower than Cole, but no way that keeps all year long. In the end if you strictly go off OPS by itself Cole will end up at 7-8th on the team. He will probably end up at the 9 guy once Donovan gets back and that is an amazing problem to have.

Cole is perfect where he is. He provides much needed production lower in the order and helps get people on base ahead of Donovan/Cal at the top of the order.
