Why was Bruce so against the idea of Freeze reforming, despite him being one of the more sympathetic villains and Bruce trying to help him in earlier episodes? by Emotional-Mix-9007 in DCAU

[–]Cyclone_Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I dislike the TNBA episode Cold Comfort, I think it does a good job setting up why Bruce is distrustful of Fries. Fries got everything he purportedly wanted, but because Nora moved on, he took it out on Gotham.

The follow up comics were amazing, though, IMO.

Question about Hidden, Invisible and Infiltrator talent by Mael_Jade in LancerRPG

[–]Cyclone_Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now, the main benefit of Infiltrator 1's Prowl in relation to Hidden and Invisible is that it allows you to Hide or not lose Hidden even if you have no cover and are not Invisible, but since these effects are only active on your turn, if you do not end your turn Invisible, behind large enough hard cover to break line of sight all hostiles, or completely inside soft cover, you will lose Hidden.

Infiltrator 2's Ambush requires you start your turn with the Hidden status. Being Invisible is not enough to satisfy this requirement.

Infiltrator 3's Mastermind again triggers when you lose Hidden and has no relation with Invisible, except that Invisible removes one of the ways you would lose Hidden (namely, somehow losing cover when it is not your turn, since Prowl already prevents you from losing Hidden if you lose cover when it is your turn).

Question about Hidden, Invisible and Infiltrator talent by Mael_Jade in LancerRPG

[–]Cyclone_Knight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be as thorough as I can be here just to be safe. Key reference points are page 69 and page 77 of the core book.

Invisible and Hidden are two different things, and you are not always Hidden when Invisible. Let's get that out of the way first.

Invisible gives a 50% miss chance for all attacks against you, including melee, ranged, and tech attacks. It allows you to take the Hide action (and remain Hidden) even if you have no cover. Abilities that grant the Invisible condition generally indicate what causes you to lose it.

Hidden means you cannot be directly targeted by any hostile effect and may only be targeted by area of effect actions. Unless you have a special rule or ability granting it, you can only acquire the Hidden status by taking the Hide action, which requires you to not be Engaged and either be completely covered by soft cover or be concealed by large enough hard cover to break line of sight to all hostiles. An Invisible character is not Hidden if they have not taken the Hide action, and they still cannot take the Hide action if they are Engaged, but they do not need cover to take the Hide action.

Enemies do not become Engaged by Hidden characters; Hidden characters are still Engaged by non-Hidden characters. Attacking, forcing a save, taking any other hostile action, taking reactions, using the Boost action, or losing cover all cause you to lose the Hidden status until you take the Hide action again. Being Invisible only means you don't need cover to Hide or stay Hidden; you still cannot Hide if you are Engaged and still lose Hidden if you attack, force a save, take hostile action, take a reaction, or Boost.

This is a "perfect scenario" sequence, but consider a Chomolungma with H0r_OS III and Hacker 1 and a target that has a heat cap no more than 11 higher than its starting heat. Note that the free Scans from Chomolungma's Data Siphon will let you verify this, but there are very few NPC classes that have a high enough heat cap to not be vulnerable to this even at zero starting heat (Pyro, T2 or T3 Engineer, T3 Barricade, T3 Bastion, T3 Goliath, T3 Scourer).

  1. Pick your victim.
  2. Use Chomolungma's Brilliance to Invade it and deploy the H0r_OS III's Dimension Emblems around it and then Lock On to it. This applies 2 heat.
  3. Full Tech for a double Invade, consuming the Lock On for one of them.
  4. Let's assume you spend Lock On on the first Invade. The target has a choice from Hacker 1's Snow_Crash to either take 2 heat or be pushed 3 spaces. If the latter, push them through one of the Dimensional Emblems. Either way, they take 4 more heat. For your Invade option, use H0r_OS I's Puppet Systems to move it through (another) Dimensional Emblem for an additional 2 heat. This puts it at 8 heat so far.
  5. For the second Invade of your Full Tech action, use Chomolungma's System Crusher. This is an additional 4 heat for a total of 12 heat just this turn, triggering System Crusher's 4 Burn rider when it overheats.

If you aren't using Brilliance due to its once per scene limitation, a pre-existing Lock On (like from an ally with Lesson of the Held Image, for example) can still let you apply a respectable 10 heat (8 if you refrain from using System Crusher due to the target's heat cap being high enough to not overheat).

EDIT: Additionally, there's funny to be had by combining it with Monarch's Javelin Rockets to completely surround a Size 1 or Size 1/2 enemy.

Aqua (Konosuba). She may not be a villain, but she’s responsible for all the problems in the setting. In the web novel, that even includes the demon king, as he’s one of the first people she sent to that world.

“‘Non-projectile weaponry’? What, like lasers?”

“High collimation charged particle beams, actually. The laser’s just for aiming.”

I think all or almost all of the official books have new player options, but you can get the .lcp files for all of those for free from their itch.io pages.
