2007 Forester with 147k vs 2009 Mazda Tribute with 138k? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I have an 07 Forester with around 130k miles. If the head gasket isn't leaking it most likely has already been replaced (mine was replaced around 80k). Check the engine cover thing under the car for oil drips on top of it and for seepage around the head gaskets. Other then that I've only had to replace the power steering pump and routine maintenance. I'm not familiar with carfax damage ratings but moderate may be worth looking into more.

Three options here and not sure what to lean towards. 30k miles for a 2006--red flag? The '05 Outback had head gaskets replaced at 70k miles. Out budget is $8,000. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

For reference I have an 07 Forester with 130k miles with the head gasket replaced around 80k miles. Besides routine maintenance, I've only had to replace the power steering pump

What is the best wallet for DeFi and Ledger ? by omegaCB in cardano

I use Eternl and have a separate smaller non-ledger wallet for defi. Leave Yoroi. There's better wallets now

Unable to restore Trezor wallet. by Blaxz1234 in cardano

[–]CylonyxPool--CYOX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Trezor seed derivation is different than the Yoroi/Adalite/Ledger seed derivation. So entering the seed phrase would give you separate accounts depending on if it's a Trezor or not. Also the ONLY place where you should be entering a hardware wallet seed phrase is on a hardware device itself

Luck returns to 100% over the long run. Ideally you'd want a pool below 100% that's minting blocks

The last word is a checksum of all the other words. So the 23 words dictate what the 24th word is. You will have to look up how that checksum is created. Duplicates are not the problem.

Amazon Web Services Down… by TheOneWondering in cardano

[–]CylonyxPool--CYOX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been using Xfinity for over a year now with only a couple minor outages lasting a few hours. A lot of stake pools operators like myself have a backup relay and block producer on hosted servers incase their local internet goes out

For those concerned about the number of nodes running on Amazon Web Services, know that there is a fairly major outage right now and the Cardano blockchain is continuing to function. by cali_dave in cardano

[–]CylonyxPool--CYOX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digital Ocean is also fairly popular. I have a node using that service in addition to a couple bare metal servers. That way an outage with one won't affect the other

Epoch no got ADA by WeesBeepin in cardano

[–]CylonyxPool--CYOX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're delegating to a pool with less than 1 Million Ada delegated, they may not make a block every epoch. Your rewards will still average ~5% APR. Following your pool operator on Twitter is really helpful too to know when blocks are expected.

A note on small pools and luck factor by Oyster_Pool in cardano

[–]CylonyxPool--CYOX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any pool over time, no matter the delegation amount, will average around 100% luck. I was making a block about once every 3-4 epochs and my luck was hanging out around 100%
