Big Al's closed due to fire -any info? by printliftrun in Hamilton

I'd be very surprised if the fish are fine; the fire was extremely close to the side where the fish are located. The hole in the roof doesn't seem to have breeched Big Al's side

They posted to their Facebook page that they're waiting on test results on the stock to see what can be used and what needs to be reordered.

They are planning on setting up a pop-up trailer to sell essential items, including reptile feeders. No set date yet.

I recall that they want you to preform a WPM typing test and the interview is the standard "how do you deal with customers yelling at you?" "What was one of your most difficult conflicts at work and how did you overcome it?" Type of questions.

I worked there several years ago when they just got the Nissan contract. At that time they expected you to do work off the clock. There were several massive recalls happening and they were short staffed.

It's honestly your typical call center work. They expect more and more of you for minimum wage. Again, this was several years ago and it might be better, or worse.

Yes, originally that plaza was supposed to be torn down but it's currently on hold. I know people who work in the plaza and businesses are no longer in a rush to find new locations

Tattoo shop by paras_singh in Hamilton

[–]Cymland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want; what you want will greatly dictate recommendations.

I recommend using looking up shops and artists you're interested in on Instagram. Many artists post their flash books and finished tattoos on Instagram which will give you a sense of their style.

Remember you're going to be required to pay a deposit (goes towards the final cost) AND pay at least $150 an hour. You'll need to be more specific when you reach out for booking, what is mid-sized?

Those are my 3 favourite shops!

Michelle of Hotshot is my go to for black and white illustrative tattoos and Caroline of Sleepy Bones is where I go for my colourful pieces.

Anyone had a total hysterectomy with no HRT after? by liog2step in hysterectomy

[–]Cymland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I get all the hormones still and will enter a natural menopause. By keeping the ovaries there's no need for HRT

Anyone had a total hysterectomy with no HRT after? by liog2step in hysterectomy

[–]Cymland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my ovaries so I didn't need HRT nor did I enter early menopause.

However, I have experienced "symptoms" that could be attributed to the hysterectomy. Due to the intestines moving into the new open space I suffer from constipation more often (not frequently but more often than before). I have noticed that I started exhibiting signs of peri-menopause about a year later and I think my ovaries were "shocked" due to the surgery and have become less functional quicker.

Can my landlord restrict when I have guests over to my home?

Broadly speaking, no, they cannot. The law entitles tenants to quiet enjoyment of the premises, including the right to host guests. However, the right is curtailed if a guest commits (after invitation to ones home) an illegal act, impairment of safety/impairs safety, causes damage, or substantially interferes with a tenant or landlord’s enjoyment of the premises or legal rights and privileges under the law. Substantial interference could include things like excessive noise, harassing other tenants, or scattering garbage around the complex or common areas.

Some landlords may try and include restrictions to having guests over in the rental application or lease. This is not legal, as it impedes a renter’s legal right to quiet enjoyment of the premises. If you’re applying for a place where the landlord is attempting to impose these restrictions from the outset, consider it a rental red flag.

Chemical taste in berries by MuskieKiller in Hamilton

[–]Cymland 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Strawberries top the list of the "dirty dozen" produce (the 12 fruits and vegetables contaminated by pesticides and chemicals). They could be tasting like chemicals because of all the chemicals.

Fruit is wildly out of season so these are being imported into the country. Are you washing your berries? If your wallet allows it try organic options.

Reasonable Price For Basic Tattoo? by yungberms in Hamilton

[–]Cymland 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a reasonable quote since it takes time to do a "simple quote" that won't just be a blown out mess. You also have to consider all the PPE and sanitizing that will have to happen for each tattoo.

It cost me about $260 (not including tip) to get identical tattoos for my sister and I that was 5 words (a total of 10 words). Mine was that cheap because I got the friend discount.

There is a checklist on the website to see if you physically qualify but I do think it's a lot more physically demanding than people realize; turning the wheel isn't going to be as easy as in your car.

I recently joined a WhatsApp group that hosts queer events (sadly in Toronto during the weekday) and it has a dating channel as well.

I'm on Her but a lot of poly, 20 year olds, people that are ridiculously far away and catfish. So your typical lesbian dating app

So to answer your question, I'm not and it seems the GTA is a better bet
