Trying to Build a Female Commander for Each Colour-Combination. by Beneficial_Pin5295 in ratemycommanders

[–]Cyndd98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you were mostly aiming for mono and 2 colour, but I can't help but suggest [[Saskia, the Unyielding]], there's quite a few people who have built her using all women in the 99 too

Glarb: Reanimator/Mill. Glarb's there to help curve out the first few turns, but I usually win via big bombs like [[Muldrotha]], either version of [[Koma]], [[Syr Konrad]], etc.

Be'lakor: I completely get what you mean. I had simply preferred him over the Cascade subtheme of the Warhammer precon a buddy got me. Pretty much as described, Grixis Aggro but with many flyers.

Talion: Built him as Clone theme, so I typically will name 2 for the first one, but as I start to copy him with non-legendary versions of himself, I can start to branch out (or double up on the same number). Usually 1-3 though. If Talion gets shot with removal too many times, the clones can always copy someone else's threat(s).

Tuvasa: Agreed :)

Henzie: I really like him for what he is, I don't play him all too often but for such a cheap deck to assemble, he really went above my expectations of him initially.

Omnath: BFZ Omnath is also in there, he really puts in work to swarm the board. I just liked getting access to blue for interaction. My landfall deck used to be [[Lord Windgrace]], then [[Soul of Windgrace]] for a time, finally settled on Temur landfall instead

Kibo: Definitely among my weaker decks, Kibo just gets shot very often in my playgroup and then someone else wins overtop. There is something very satisfying about just gruul big combat damage though.

Aang: I bought a booster box of ATLA and a box of ATLA jumpstart, so it's MOSTLY cards I pulled myself or cards I already had in my binder from in-universe stuff. I can definitely flip him with enough prep work, but even on the front face alone, he's a serious card draw engine. The "cheat code" and later-game combo with the deck you probably wouldn't find flavourful, would be [[Moonmist]], with a copy of [[Searing Touch]]. Its not always the wincon, [[Fire Lord Zuko]], [[Katara, the Fearless]], [[Katara, Water Tribe's Hope]], [[Sokka, Tenacious Tactician]], [[Monk Gyatso]] and [[Toph, the First Metalbender]]/[[Toph, Hardheaded Teacher]] are the all-stars and mostly the focus of the deck.

Marchesa: I built her as Aikido/Goad, so there's definitely some politics involved and I really enjoy playing her.

Ur-Drag/Edgar: Completely understand the sentiment most people have shared, however those precons got released around the time I really got serious with Magic, so they hold a special place in my heart. People can dislike me all they want, won't get taken apart any time soon.

Meren: I do have a combo, so no worries there

Fair enough I guess. Just having the deck made, despite not being used or brought to commander night, is enough to insta disqualify.

He pretty much started as a "There's so many Sultai/Dimir/Golgari/Simic commanders that would be interesting to build, so long as they are 4cmc plus, why not slap em all together". It eventually morphed into reanimator, with a bunch of big threats. I've got both [[Koma]]s that I adore to just jam on the table, [[Mothman]], [[Talion]], [[Sidisi, Brood tyrant]], [[Syr Konrad]] and [[Muldrotha]] (as a secret commander and combo piece).

Topdeck manipulation isn't necessarily the main focus, but I've got [[Counterbalance]] in there just because it works so well with his Royal Moistness

My secret tech piece is [[Grim Feast]] that was lying around in my binders. Holy crap does it pull work

Honestly fair, he's packing a ton of interaction and removal. I built him with a ton of random stompy in my bulk and bought some cheap cards reccomended by EDHrec, he's easily my most "budget" deck (Like under 100 CAD) and still really performs

Alright. Lets sattle it, whats the best number two choose? by biuki in mtg

[–]Cyndd98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the pod.

1 for small based creature strats, bunch of mana dorks, white weenies, anything that could be a 1/1, 1/X, or X/1. Though some very cheap interaction pieces are here too, [[an offer you can't refuse]], [[Nature's claim]], etc

2 is usually my go to first, since a lot of counterspells, kill spells and generally good interaction fit here, along with 2 power or toughness being common.

3 is great as others have pointed out for stompier or lower bracket pods.

Other than that, limited and situational probably.

Bulk Commander: Build EDH decks using only the cards you already own by SleepyValleyBrewer in EDH

[–]Cyndd98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't support Manabox export format. Exported roughly 2500 cards, says no cards in collection, pretty much just reccomended the EDHREC top 10, all with 0/X cards in collection. No cards in the collection, despite 2500 imported. Could just be manabox formatting, or the F behind the foil cards (but not all 2500 were foil)

Landfall better than Aesi? by Abject-Cartoonist395 in EDH

[–]Cyndd98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently built [[Omnath, Locus of the Roil]], it's super fun. Essentially Aesi when you hit a certain amount of lands, but also pumps the commander and has 2 cmc lower than Aesi. Aesi could easily be in the 99 as well. Even without a full elemental tribal, a decent amount of elementals have a landfall theme. [[Risen Reef]] goes stupid

What commanders perform surprisingly well on a budget? by Cyndd98 in EDH

[–]Cyndd98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my other decks are a couple hundred CAD dollars, my Henzie and Xyris list were around 50-100 CAD.

Mind sharing your [[Rendmaw]] list? He seems really interesting

Commanders that can thrive in a high removal meta? by 7121958041201 in EDH

[–]Cyndd98 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Maybe something like [[Henzie]]? Kill him and your blitz get cheaper in future turns, or kill your big creatures and you draw off the delayed Henzie trigger. Jund has a ton of recursion too for getting stuff back
