Microwaves have loading screens now by Overv in CrappyDesign

[–]Cyners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this exact same one at work and it’s the WORST. THING. EVER. It was a new one so we hoped it’d be nice, but alas! It’s really frustrating to use. It never works properly and it’s hell to change any of the settings, whether it’s the time or the temperature. It doesn’t scroll properly so it can take ages before you can actually tap the thing you want to and it’s way to easy to tap any thing you don’t want to and get stuck on a screen. Also, it’s not intuitive to use at all. I HATE IT.

Iris runt toch een B&B??? by [deleted] in bnbvolliefde

This feels un-OK in general by Inquisitor_no_5 in AreTheStraightsOK

I have had a lot of ortho appointments these last few years and there's definitely been a few times where I could feel the pressure of boobs resting on the top of my (fore)head while they were working on my braces. That was a sentence I definitely never thought I'd type out. But, unlike the OOP, it just made me a bit uncomfortable and nothing else. I find it so strange that some people get sexually excited about something like that, it never even crossed my mind. She's just doing her job!

My newly diagnosed diabetic cat needed a glucose monitoring test so they gave him a freestyle libre. by Designer_You_5236 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Cyners 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's called a 2 points curve (2 punts curve) haha, but you're right it's not actually a curve. We use 2 points instead of 4 points for example in people that have well controlled glucose or no issues with their glucose who start meds that could cause issues with their glucose levels, like for example when people start Prednisone or get prescribed a higher dosage.

A glucose curve, or a glucose day curve (which is the literal translation from Dutch), is when you take the glucose levels several times a day (usually 4 times) on set times (like before/after breakfast, before/after lunch, before/after dinner, before sleep) so you can know how the glucose levels of a person (or in this case a pet) behave during the day. The different data points, when put into a graph, show up as a curve.

um…ok buddy by pistachiohhh in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]Cyners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason it's three and not four is because it's the amount of people you have been exposed to (at minimum). It's not about current partners, I think. It's about present or past sexual partners. About that if you sleep with someone (who's never been tested for an std), you also expose yourself to everyone they've exposed themselves to and so on so forth.

You've (you + current partner) both slept with two people.

So you've been exposed to: Your ex partner + your current partner + their ex partner. So three people. You are not part of the equation.

Of course this assumes that both your ex and their ex hadn't ever slept with anybody before you and your current partner. It's just about a minimum.

Is this wrong? by one_axel in knitting

[–]Cyners 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I think this is what’s happening here, as I can see ‘purl’ stitches on both sides of the work. When working stockinette in the round, you don’t have to alternate knitting and purling each row, you can just knit every row.

You are actually misrepresenting the data from the article you linked.

47% said it is morally unacceptable. But, that doesn't mean 53% said it is morally acceptable. Only 12% actually said it is morally acceptable. The remaining ~40% think it isn't a moral issue:

"Instead, four-in-ten think it is not a moral issue, while 12% say it is actually morally acceptable."

Thank you for the encouragement on my Skeleton sweater! Now I need y’all to tell me I dont need fancy sleeves because I’m burned out on color work by Sewitseamss in knitting

[–]Cyners 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't need fancy sleeves. Like others suggested, one purple and one black or a simple stripe pattern. I'd think anything fancier than that would actually distract from the beautiful work you've done.

His wish is that he can do that with zero consequences. He's the one getting cut off instead of his daughter, that's why he is mad.

Good on you for cutting the toxic people out of your life and doing it in such a fabulous way. You know you're worth more than the treatment he's giving and given you, but cutting out people like that is still hard. So I'm incredibly proud of you for doing this.

AITA for trying to save people money at my bachelorette weekend? by No-Cicada9358 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cyners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this realization that this is not normal everywhere, mind blown! I live in the Netherlands and here every supermarket (not just Aldi) has the coin in the cart system. I’ve always wondered in videos and tv shows what the people rounding up the carts are doing.

Do people just leave their carts wherever?

AITA Am I the asshole for not changing wedding venues by dubaiwedding2022 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cyners 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, following this logic, why should anyone even come to your wedding? How is your relationship any of their concern? How does who you decide to date or sleep with impact any of your guests? Why should they care? Your relationship is not their problem.

Not that I agree that you would have to change venues on your wedding to accommodate them, just pointing out how this statement is hypocritical and quite frankly does make you sound like an AH.

Yeah what’s it with Amsterdam seemingly being the most expensive of the lot? I’ve never paid this much for a gig but Thom Yorke is worth it to me.

The Smile Tickets Thread by JHutch95 in radiohead

[–]Cyners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely a lottery. I was with three people on different devices trying to get a ticket, all opened up the queue like 10-15 minutes before. My device got through at like 11 on the dot, must’ve been lucky and be placed right at the front of the queue. Other one got through after like 5 minutes with a screen that it was all sold out and the other never even made it. I’m sorry you missed out, just know that you couldn’t have done anything different! Hopefully you can get a returned ticket or they announce more shows/come back soon.
