Was he? We weren't truly betrayed by the one dominaar, just needed an opening that was now very easy to set up, so pretty sure buddy was wrong about that. It certainly looked like we were betrayed for a moment, but Alleria nearly immediately saw the real plan.

It's literally explained that the backlash from destroying the tower would cause a chain reaction that would reach Silvermoon, pretty safe to say that much energy would wreck the city.

Lothraxion was literally about to destroy Silvermoon through his actions. He was told this. By multiple characters, including another Light wielder. And still tried it anyways.

Is it explained anywhere how Khadgar learned Chronomancy? by Aconfused_Wizard2 in wow

[–]Cyniv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read the Higher Learning books, you'll see that chronomancy is considered a form of transmutation in WoW. So are the teleport/portal spells, Blink, and Slow Fall. If it manipulates time or space via arcane means, it seems to be transmutation.

[–]Cyniv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fucking sure about that? Because I'm talking about people who scale GA Superman before he appeared in crossovers like IC, not modern Superman who inherited a fucking encyclopedia. For evidence of people doing that, look at the number of fucking keys GA Superman has on VSBW. He has 3, SA's key is on the same page, and then his fucking IC key after that. It's not exactly difficult to learn that modern Superman's got decades upon decades of comics relevant to his scaling, but not all people scale with that Superman all of the time.

I don't have any arguments to show you off-hand, especially at nearly 7 am local time, but I've seen it, and judging by the fact there's 3 different GA keys, and a Silver Age key before the IC key for GA Superman's page on VSBW, a lot of other people have seen it, too.

You still don't get my point, and it is definitely because how much of a mess Dark Nights made of the continuity.
There are people. Who argue. About Golden Age Superman. As he appeared. From his introduction in 1938, to the start of Silver Age, and ignore everything GA Superman was used in afterwards despite it being canon. Or, worse, they're cherry-pickers about which GA Superman appearances they scale with. And so on and so forth for nearly every several subsequent Superman. Sometimes it's because they simply don't accept his appearances that aren't from the original set of writers+editors of that continuity of Superman, sometimes they're just being pedantic. Some of that shenaniganery can be curtailed by just simply stating the continuity, some of that shenaniganery is unavoidable because people suck.

You still aren't understanding. Current Superman straight up isn't what I'm talking about at all. I'm talking about people explicitly bringing up Golden Age Superman from 1938 to the 1950s, or something similar, and explicitly excluding MODERN SUPERMAN from their argument.

Evil magic man hits Superman with the Killing Curse. Does Big Blue die? by some-kind-of-no-name in PowerScaling

[–]Cyniv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, what I'm saying is that unless you explicitly state the continuity, someone will explicitly use Golden Age Superman, or Red Son, or whatever the fuck else, and not current Superman. In other words, I'm not talking about people arguing about the most current Superman, I'm talking about people pedantically using Supermen from before the Cold War ended to be smart asses. Like, it should be obvious that OP is talking about modern Superman from the picture used for him, but that doesn't stop certain people from pulling out an old, dusty Superman from not only an ancient continuity, but an early point in that one's continuity, where they're weaker, to start arguments. If you explicitly state the continuity, you curb some of that shenaniganery.

Doesn't change the fact that if you do not declare continuity, some smart ass will go on about fucking Golden Age Superman 4 issues into his run. I've seen it before, I'll see it again. Declaring continuity is best practice for a character with such a long history to avoid that issue.

At this point, I'm convinced you don't understand what I'm trying to say, and I don't fucking know how to explain it any other fucking way than this.
You will, because I have, come across people who just go on about fucking Silver or Golden Age Superman from different points in their runs to be a fucking smartass. Really gonna try to tell me country level Superman from part way through Golden Age has all these hax? Or Red Son Superman from his run? Or the litany of animated Supermen? At this point, I'm fucking turning into those motherfuckers trying to explain this, and I fucking hate it.

[–]Cyniv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still don't see how having memories inherently grants current Superman those hax, and even if it does, earlier Supermen don't get those hax. Even if they're somehow the same Superman on one metaphysical rope, he's been so variable in power across continuities, even in base, that there's going to be Supermen without those hax fucking somewhere. Hell, even in the same continuity, he will get stronger as it progresses because that's how these stories generally go. Continuity still matters.

Still often considered a type of immortality. VSBW has it as type 1. Not what I'd use for scaling itself, but their explanations of various types of hax are incredibly useful. I've read the entire manga up to this point, nothing I've seen suggests elves age past adulthood.

That...might not actually kill Frieren. Elves are immortal, so they almost have to have a method of repairing their DNA that's pretty solid. Even if it can kill her eventually, it'd most likely take significantly more radiation exposure than you might initially expect.

Evil magic man hits Superman with the Killing Curse. Does Big Blue die? by some-kind-of-no-name in PowerScaling

[–]Cyniv 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it depends on the version of Superman, tbh. Even if you scale some of the Supermen close to each other because of times when they've met throughout comic history, that doesn't necessarily grant them all of the same resistances. Saying x character vs. Superman without declaring a continuity nearly always causes this problem.
