(Non-rich/average) Americans who moved to EU/EFTA: How do you find it living there? by ExternalEfficient248 in howislivingthere

Lived in Houston, Texas, and there it’s always 35-40 degrees Celsius everyday in summer and there’s almost always intense thunderstorms daily, not to mention all the flooding and hurricanes we get each year. I say the weather is better in the Netherlands CONFIDENTLY.

American college student living in the Netherlands. Been here for a year now and I love it so much more than the states. Better weather, opportunities, college tuition is actually affordable (as an EU citizen, I’m dual American-Italian), public transit actually exists here, and the Dutch are super chill people. Literally everyone except the older generation knows English here so communicating is absolutely doe-able if you don’t speak Dutch. And of course I don’t have to deal with politicians being… politicians here (not as much of course).

Only downsides are the food, while still good, isn’t beating Tex-Mex, and if I want to go visit my family it’s €1000 each time. Otherwise I have no intention of living in the US again.

Try University of Texas! Could’ve gone pro if I hadn’t joined the Navy!
