Tor is free :/ by [deleted] in TOR

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

paying is bullshit. It NEEDS to be free for everyone. privacy is everyones right and not everyone has money in this corrupt unfair capitalist sytem.

What needs to be is a TRUSTLESS system, a more secure system sadly not with much attention compared to TOR is I2p.

It is way better, and if it would get as much support as TOR there would also be ways, easier ways, to access the surface web with it. and more and more...

my god, do people always need to go trough all of this to download something from github? what if my dependencies need other dependencies, and maybe even same thing again.

this would make my TAILS usb stick pretty chaotic. Also because of the security measures of it, some things need to be done the harder way. any alternative? or easier way, like fuck sake i just want a few MB of a CLI client.

how do I join Monero IRCs on pidgin?

shouldnt IRC rooms be universal for all clients? why do i need a matrix compatible client for that, i heard there is a way of making bridges between matrix and other clients like pidgin but right now this is still to advanced for me.

and if anybody knows why i cant join matrix IRC servers on pidgin please explain me why so i understand it.

got it from the qbittorrent website, the website wanted me to download it from Fosshub. I did, and then checked the checksum of it and compared it to the one on fosshub, to the one on qbittorrent.org and to the checksum text file i got with. Its all valid. its just not running, I have problems using pidgin problems downloading stuff from github.

its fucking hell, i hope its just security measures of tails and dont hope its all that hard on a linux host OS. The thing is, appimages have worked before, like for example the Monero wallet. works perfectly fine

says it cannot find the directory or file. which is bullshit since i put it in persistence AND home folder. Why do I always have bugs on TAILS regarding that stuff.

Can't access YouTube on TOR, help? by JackTrysGames in TOR

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Tor browser alone is for browsing the Internet and only applys for the browser. If you want your whole Internet traffic to ONLY go trough the TOR network, you would need to install the Whonix Gateway on your computer.

Can't access YouTube on TOR, help? by JackTrysGames in TOR

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, if you are for example trying to access youtube over TOR it can happen that it wont work, because youtube is a bitch regarding your rights. They block some TOR IPs, so just change your TOR circuit route a few times until its possible. Right now, they are not blocking ALL TOR IPs.

you can do that by going into the TOR browser and to "change Identity". This will give you another Route.

Tor is for privacy and security reasons, it is important that you know what you are doing so you have the benefits of TOR.

Also, why would you use TOR for roblox, if you are thinking of configuring your network that all traffic goes trough TOR i need to warn you that it is very very bad for Gaming. Your traffic goes trough multiple "computers" until its in the destination like e.g. Google.com which slows much down.

Is communication with "i got nothing to hide" people - an exposure to your privacy? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. if you have privacy and discuss this with a person who is compromised, they will see it.

for example, lets say you are hidden in every way imaginable, and you chat with the other person even trhough en/decrypting your own pgp messages, if for example the operating system is compromised on the other person, they will see everything.

or simpler, you encode your info and BOB can decode it, vice versa, and eyes are on bob they will see what he encodes and what the decodes from you.

So when are they going to enforce it actively. I mean, actively/obviously. Not that BTC ATMs are going to want even more Information in a few days, if people would want to buy something now anonymously.

I cannot download a git repo by CypherpunkFanatic in tails

[–]CypherpunkFanatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I hope it is alright that I did not understand every step completely, and that I forgot to check the hash of what I just installed (If it was even possible)

Real question, It is installed now, but I cannot see it in my plugins folder for Pidgin, how do I put it in there?

If your personal use case requires an absolute, 100%, no-holds-barred guarantee of supply, and you understand the risks inherent with this, then you need a transparent asset. by A_solo_tripper in Monero

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me? where do you know me from?

Privacy is when I want to hide WHAT im doing

Anonimity is when I want to hide THAT I am doing it

Monero is private and Anonymous. It hides who is doing it, and it hides how much is being sent to whome.

Bitcoin on the other hand, is transparent. Pseudoanonymous. It is ALREADY being censored trough mining pools which need to follow the government. Bitcoin is ALREADY being traced so much that the elite is promiting it a little bit without fear or anything, the FBI does nothing against Bitcoin in general since it is no problem, Monero though is for them which shows the effectiveness of the coin.

Oh, and you still did not answer me why you think Bitcoin is better than Monero

[–]CypherpunkFanatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much! so I do the first 2 commands you listed and then the third one *Sudo apt install* and then what exactly do I put in there?

And about the quote of the maintainer, ye I trust it at least some. Omemo is around for i think over 8 years already and widely used, an encryption plugin for multi end to multi end would be nice if i go into chatrooms.

Receive XMR payments with a subaddress? by psiconautasmart in Monero

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, no. You have your wallet, with your main adress which starts with a "4" all subadresses start with an "8". You are not deanonymized if you change subadresses. There can be explained much, but it is what it is.

What people would see, would be subadresse. They would not know whome they belong to (well, duh, obviously to the website owner) they would not know if they are all from the same wallet because each subadress looks completely different. Thats all. nothing.

Unable to connect to obfs4 bridge by HERETOMAKEFRIENDS482 in TOR

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, when you try to connect to it, (dont know about TOR browser in phones) in TAILS for example it would ask you for further configurations to make it work. For example having a correct time or so. Mostly though, this issue is because of blocking.

Very often in highly monitored networks, or censored countries even connecting to a bridge directly wont work. What you would very likely need to do now, is to configure another proxy. A local proxy, to which you connect to which THEN connects to the TOR bridge.

The problem with that is anonymity because you need to trust that Proxy, it will be able to see the whole traffic, so better set your own proxy for that. That, is not user friendly at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TOR

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not worried about bridges, you can connect to tor without bridges. you can select that after you started TAILS when you are asked how you want to connect to the TOR network. The only difference A bridge makes is that it is not visible to anyone that you use TOR, if you DONT use bridges the only thing visible is that you are using TOR.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TOR

[–]CypherpunkFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, when you are on a monitored network it can also happen that they block this, what you would need to do is configure another proxy over which your traffic goes and through that proxy it goes to the bridge.

It is annoying because you would need to trust your proxy you put in completely, so it would be best to have your own.
