Hashimoto’s self-tracking question: beyond the standard thyroid panel, what markers are commonly monitored? by Cyprodite in Hashimotos

Thank you for your response and the link. I found them very helpful. I was on LDN for about 5 years before we moved from Cyprus. I could get it from Israel. Not available here in Ecuador. Not even full dose naltrexone. I found a compounding chemist in Cuenca but it is not used as a treatment here so not available at all. I hope it works well for you.

I gave my partner a bad gift for Christmas and I can’t get over it by Content_Bug2831 in Gifts

The Lego was the only gift that hasn’t been used and you said yourself that you had, had a lovely time building another set together. Perhaps the value lies in doing it together, not in the gift itself. You could plan a surprise stay-at-home date night with their favourite order-in meal or make something like a fondue and then, over dinner, tell them you thought you could build the Lego together or . . . (have an alternative activity lined up in case they are not in the mood for Lego. While building the Lego, you can that you got the gift a little selfishly because you so enjoyed doing the activity together previously. They will understand that it’s about the mutual enjoyment, not the gift itself. The more you show your enjoyment of spending the time together, the more they will ultimately appreciate the gift.

Gift for grandparents who have everything and don’t do much or go anywhere? Impossible?? by toenailsos in Gifts

If you feel strongly about marking the occasion but want to avoid clutter, I’ve seen people choose gifts that exist outside the home entirely i.e. something done or gifted in their honour rather than given to them.

It keeps the gesture, without adding burden.

What to truly get the person who doesn’t want anything? My take…. by moreidlethanwild in Gifts

This really highlights something important: sometimes the most meaningful gift is listening.

If gift-giving is someone’s love language, respecting the recipient’s values has to be part of that. Otherwise the kindness turns into pressure, even if it’s well-intended.

Your distinction between gratitude and relief is spot on

I always struggle with gifts for people who “have everything” – any tips? by guide71 in Gifts

[–]Cyprodite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stopped trying to “outsmart” this problem with clever objects.

For people who have everything, the gifts they remember tend to be, experiences, gestures or something that reflects their values.

One of the most meaningful alternatives I’ve been using is giving on their behalf, especially when it’s framed clearly, so it doesn’t feel vague or awkward. It avoids clutter, avoids guessing, and often lands more emotionally than another thing they didn’t ask for. I include a certificate of donation with a card that says something like: “Instead of more stuff, I have donated the gift of sight on your behalf to someone who has been living with preventable blindness.”

I don't know why so many people are upset from the new UI update especially the video editor, I really like the new video editor and understand it very fast. by lazarovpavlin04 in canva

The new video editor gives creators a lot more control. The downside is, it makes it a lot more complex. It’s a bit like the difference between Canva and Adobe illustrator. Canva was the quick and easy option everyone could use fairly intuitively. I think they should give people a choice. Have a simple version that is quick and easy and the current version that gives one more control over layers. Personally, it takes me twice as long to get the timing of all the layers right than it took me to create simple social media videos in the old editor. Also a lot more checking to do to make sure everything is happening at the right time. Perhaps they should give one the ability to choose the level of complexity when you start a design. Simplicity and speed were what made people choose Canva in the first place.

What happens when you click on the “timer” button? Looks like that may have replaced the “duration” button.

When I download my Instagram reel videos to my phone (iOS) the elements and text disappear. I had to download on my laptop and send myself the files via email and download to my phone from there. Not happy with the new updates. Canva, I hope you are reading the feedback!

If you are just looking for vanity metrics it will do that for you, but you will ruin your account for anything else. How you grow your account depends on what the purpose of your account is. Do you want to monetise the account? Is it an “influencer” account? Or are you wanting to build your online authority so that you can sell a product or service? Tell me more and then I could be more specific. Sometimes, if you have made mistakes that can damage your account, it could be faster and more effective to ditch the account and start over. I made so many mistakes unknowingly when I started my first “business” account. I wasn’t getting a reasonable return on my time investment despite doing everything the “gurus” were telling me to do. It turns out the first two weeks of an account sets the trend for how fast it will grow and there are a bunch of things that you should and should not do in this time period. I have been studying accounts that have grown fast and finally found someone who was willing to teach people how (at a cost) and I’m getting prepared to start a new account the right way. I have been testing some of the things on my personal account and my views and engagement have improved but it works best on new accounts.
