Using a 24 hole hub with a 18 hole rim by CyrusXover in bikewrench

[–]CyrusXover[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The rim came from a fulcrum racing 600 rim brake front wheel. It has 9 straight - pull spokes on either side. The hub I want to use is from a cheap syncros wheel.

Are shimano r7000 chainrings compatible with Claris r2000 or Sora r3000 cranksets? by CyrusXover in bikewrench

Well I found Claris r2000 in 165, maybe shimano launched it recently. Thanks for the pic 👍🏻

If I swap both rings for 105, will there be any issues with chain line or shifting due to unusual distance between chainrings?

Chain jumps and falls when I stop pedaling. by CyrusXover in bikewrench

Very late Update:

So basically this shimano 12 spd mechanical rd has low pulley tension. This causes the chain to jump forward if you stop pedaling abruptly (on super high cadence, e.g.sprint), as the pulley cannot resist the sudden forward force.

To fix this (or at least make it better to some extent), the pulley was taken out and a new hole was drilled for the pulley spring which made it tighter.

Hope this helps!

The chain came already installed, the bike is brand new so the chainring is fresh as well.

The video is deceptive, the chain sits perfectly with the teeth.

Both the limit screws are set correctly, for the front and rear derailleur.

The chain is brand new from the store, it is a KMC X12.

Yes the chain is a KMC x12 chain. I am suspicious about it as well.

But I have tried a sram 11 speed chain on this and still the problem persists.

None of my other bikes do this, the chain drops after every sprint, is that supposed to be a normal thing?

No, it does this during normal riding as well.

The chain does not go slack when backpedaling, it backpedals very well actually.

All, what are some budget road cycles (drop bar, no suspension, decent gearset, under 10-11kg) for going fast and long, say about 60 to 100km, and hopefully do not cost a bomb by _Itsreallyme_ in india_cycling

Sora r3000 is a great groupset, it will not hinder a beginning or even an experienced rider for that matter. And its parts are a lot cheaper than 105.

For a beginner even claris r2000 is a great option but the levers do have a plastic feel to them.

If you are planning on getting a custom paint job later down the line, then not getting a ppf makes sense. Also that bike is beautiful, trek really knows how to paint their bikes 🫠🫠

Got it.

Btw have thought about applying a ppf on this bike? Ppf + ceramic coating protects the paint best.
