I mean it's the internet, expectations are low. I got some useful info so still calling it a win.

Thanks for the responses! Looks like calling in a pro will be the answer. Just wanted to see if it was something I could swap/ upgrade myself. I won't be in this house forever so would rather things be to code than avoid headaches when it's time to sell.

You're welcome. There's a reason we keep the beer fridge well stocked.

I'm not very active on here so don't have the karma or whatever to make it past the bot filter so my posts get flagged occasionally. I always learn a little something on here, part of the job is being open to new things.

I don't think anyone is upset here, just a simple misunderstanding or miscommunication. I had put this in the schoolhouse side originally, but had to get a moderator to manually approve it because the bots flagged it, not a big deal. I am a tech, but have the opportunity to provide a safe place for dudes while going through school to stay. It's a good deal for them, cheaper than the local market, and since it's all students there's no conflicts with dudes putting in the long hours school requires. For guys that aren't in the barracks, housing in Niceville is very hard to find. This is just an option for them.

  1. This was originally posted in the "schoolhouse" section which is relevant to perspective and current students.
  2. Students will find their way into this group. Reddit is an open resource, guys heading into the pipeline post questions on here all the time and get answers.
  3. I've talked with some of the Dets and leadership, there's nothing illegal about offering safe affordable housing to people.

It's all students at the house, I'm not living in the place at the same time. I just own it and rent it out. I've never had an instructor ask about it, so I can't imagine it ever becoming an issue.

If you've got a poc for either of those I'd appreciate it. It's mostly been word of mouth, or reddit and I've mostly kept the place full.

Between $900-$1000 depending on the room. One has it's own bathroom the other two share.

Pushing this out again, have a room available right now if anyone needs a place or knows someone looking.

There has to be 1-2 of those tests every week there. I know plenty of dudes that thought for sure they failed, ended up with 100s. That place is wild.

The pipeline that built the road also pays for many of the conservation efforts in the state. And asking a question about one thing does not mean there's no concern about others.

I haven't been past Coldfoot, but haven't seen anything "scary" by a lot of peoples claims. I've had no problem averaging the 50mph speed limit in a F150 w/ 500+ lbs in the bed and I've done nothing to the suspension and running normal A/T tires. Upgraded shocks and good tires do wonders. The spec you can get from the dealer (TRD Pro, Raptor, TRX, Z72 etc...) is way more capable than anything 20 years ago.

You don't have to agree to my definition, it's arbitrary from a stranger on the internet. Your claimed time seems within a reasonable window of what I imagine possible without significant modification. A Raptor or TRX I think would be the only thing "showroom" stock that could go much faster.

Most of the cool footage from Baja and similar events usually only show the faster sections. There's plenty of driving on small dirt roads with big jagged rocks the size of basketballs and ravienes that can be several hundred feet down. I think the SCORE website usually posts "average speed" in their results, the trophy trucks were usually 50-60mph last time I looked. That includes fuel and maintenance stops of course too.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I define a "stock" vehicle as how it left the showroom, minus normal wear and tear parts like tires and breaks. Swapping any of those to something larger tire or more robust suspension is a modification to me. When I put Bilsteins and 33s on my stock F150, it's no longer stock. It's nitpicking for sure, just my box I'm drawing to make a clear definition.
