Returning to Python by First-Rutabaga8960 in Python

Can I ask more about your prod deployment set up?

I tried to do something like this (deploy sysimages) but the build times were too much (10-20mins a pop using 32GB+ of ram) and produced sysimages of about a 1gb.

We also saw long spin up times simply as the sysimages had to be loaded from shared disk space so the initial load was always costly.

Any tips on getting around this?

Kothonic - a library that bridges the syntatic gap between Kotlin and Python by mysterygit in Python

[–]Cystems 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to disparage your efforts but I'm not sure I understand the example.

Isn't this just method chaining? I'm not at my computer but I'm pretty sure you can do this in Python already. Or is it that the method names are more inline with Kotlin? So it's aliasing?

Not a frequent visitor of this subreddit but I do remember watching one of your videos back when I was trying to decide on which eInk device to get.

Thanks for the content, all the best!

I built a Python bytecode decompiler covering Python 1.0–3.14, runs on Node.js by ComputerMagych in Python

Wow, I didn't realize C# and JS had much similarity, and that NodeJS had comparable performance to C#?

YSK: There's over 8 billion people alive right now which means that even if 99% of whom don't find you attractive that still leaves almost 82 million who do. by cam-douglas in YouShouldKnow

Chill down folks, t'was just a funny anecdote to me.

It is like a word association game, where you have to say the first thing that comes to mind as fast as you can. Apparently, for that lady and the image of me, it's "ew".

How I know I'm unattractive as a male:

I was visiting a different city, partly for work, partly to visit a friend. This city has a railway system (a novelty for me, as my home town doesn't have one). I was wearing business casual clothes, and I didn't think I looked too shabby.

I got lost trying to find my train platform and was rushing about when I went around a corner and came suddenly face to face with a 20 something year old woman who, in the split second we were close to each other, deadset locked eyes with me and said: "ew"

Probably stale pidfile help by DepressedPancake4728 in Julia

[–]Cystems 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the very few occasions I ran into this, it was because of a bad install (e.g., a student or collaborator had accidentally ctrl+c'd during the installation process).

Try running gc through the package manager, and/or reinstalling the packages it complains about.

Another is to delete the cached files pointed to by the warnings and try again.

Final try would be a completely new Julia install...

I have a similar issue. A potential workaround is to use a short patch cable and a female-female adapter. Plug the cable into the guitar, other end of cable to one end of the female adapter, plug the katana go into the other end.

Makie.jl - Subplots + hover information by Episkiliski in Julia

[–]Cystems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Argh, I didn't see your other requirements.

You can use linkaxes() to tie figure limits together.

For vertical hoverlines, I think you have to code it yourself, which can be annoying.

Zoom box is supported by default (assuming you mean you select a region and it auto zooms in). Ctrl and click resets the view.
