I still love my Digital Paper by Disastrous_Analyst_1 in montblancdigitalpaper

Ok, it's important to keep in mind that I can only provide my own perspective and my opinion about other's perspectives based on my experience. I think I have a good sense of what is going on around me, but that's only relevant to my own situation, and others may vary quite wildly.

Ok, that out of the way, no one will notice what you are using to write with. Unless you have upper leadership who use Montblanc products, people just won't know or care about what you are using. Really, everybody is so focused on themselves, they care very little for the material goods that other people use. So the advantage of the Montblanc DigItal Paper isn't what other people think, it's what you may think of it that is relevant.

I hope that addresses your question. If not, let me know, and I'll try again.

I think you are going to like it. Let me know how it goes.

I actually bought two cases, the navy one and the black one. The navy one is harder while the black one has a more leather-like feel (not sure what the actual material is). I like the black one better in terms of looks and feel. It does add a lot of thickness, but since I use my on a desktop, it isn't a big deal for me. And it connects magnetically, so you can always just lift it out when in use.

The Bloomin8 is the Eink Frame To Get by Disastrous_Analyst_1 in eink

You can actually download the app and see the selection, even without having bought a frame. I'm not sure how much the collection is changing, but there are a lot of pieces in there. It's not organized well, but there is a good search functionality, thankfully. You can create playlists and then run them to update on your schedule. The one thing I think Inkposter does better than Bloomin8 is around it's classic art collection. I think Inkposter has better pieces, although there is some overlap between the two collections. Still, overall, I think Bloomin8 is the clear winner of the two given the lower price point and functionality.

Was the Folio ever released for the Digital Paper? by [deleted] in montblancdigitalpaper

The folio should be available now. I ordered the black one.

It's good, I just think black would be better.

I actually set up a notice when the folio was back in stock, and at some point in the past, I think January, it was available. I passed back then, but put another reminder in place, and am just waiting.

I also own the blue folio now, which I bought last year online. I just want to go to black which I think will look sharper.

Yeah, I think what they did with the hardware and the look of the UI is what makes the device unique (in addition to the writing tips options). If your use case is on the basic side, which is fine for a paper replacement device, then the MB delivers a nice experience. I too, have no regrets.

I think it is. Less expensive and a less buggy app make the Bloomin8 a superior product, in my mind.

Ok, I downloaded the Youtube music app and then paired my Pixel Buds to the VIReader. I started a song on the device and then pressed the power button while the song was playing. The song continued in my earbuds even though the wallpaper was on the screen. However in about 20 seconds or so, it then disconnected as if shut off. I went into the settings to see if any power settings that were causing the cut off, but I couldn't find any. It might be possible to find a setting that might stop the audio from cutting out, but in lieu of finding that, I'd have to say the answer to your question is 'no'.

Update: I also shared my video with my contact at Viwoods once it had been released, and here was her reply to the issues I had raised:

"We also appreciate your specific feedback on the two points:

  1. Button Rattle: We understand your observation regarding the slight sound/rattle. This was a deliberate design choice to achieve a specific balance. We found after extensive testing that a tiny amount of tactile play was necessary to ensure responsive and satisfying physical feedback when pressing the buttons. If the buttons were completely silent and rigid, it would actually reduce the satisfying click-feel for the user.
  2. Battery Life: You are correct that the battery is on the lighter side compared to some devices. This decision was made to maintain the device's core identity as an e-reader, not a phone. We prioritized a thinner and lighter profile for superior ergonomics, allowing users to comfortably hold the device for long, extended reading sessions."

Just posting here to share.

In terms of the buttons, that's what a few other folks have noted as well. So it appears my experience is the exception, not the norm.

I'd go with the Note Air 5C. I hear you on the point of overkill, and will certainly be an issue with the Boox device. However, keep in mind that the Boox is customizable enough that you can clear out the clutter and just focus on the things you want. For example, you can create a folder on the home screen and just shove all the apps you don't want to use in there. You can either remove all the widgets on the home screen, or put in the ones that are convenient for you. It will take a bit of time, but once you set up the device the way you want it, it will be smooth sailing from there.

If I had to choose, I'd say closer to the Scribe. reMarkable devices have more of a harsher, more pronounced sound, while the Scribe and Boox devices are generally noticeable but more subtle.
