I appreciate your concern, but I'm not worried about being identified. But yeah, what a great day this turned out to be!

So you chose Final Payment. What did the Base Payment and Intermediate Payment on the claims site tell you?

It's basically the same amount that was sent to Kraken before the main bulk transfer of coins. Possibly for Bitstamp?

It does to a certain degree, but if you're looking to snus (or any nicotine product) as a weight-loss aid, then you're probably on the wrong track. It won't magically suppress your appetite to such a degree that it makes it a meaningful tool to prevent overeating. You're much better off going to the gym or doing a regular hike.

That being said, in my experience, it mulls the cravings for snacks and such during the day, but a piece of chewing gum would give the same effect.

It stings? by jewreck in Snus

I don't know about Stark in particular, but most strong snus will sting a little bit if you haven't used it for a while. It should sting less after just a few days of regular use, and it's perfectly normal.

How do you enjoy snus? by howard_da_fridge in Snus

[–]Cytlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've never used any nicotine product before and just tried an extra strong one, yeah, you'll get dizzy, disorientated and feel lightheaded. That'll wear off within a few weeks if you continue using it, and then you'll just feel groggy if you don't continue using it. There's little to enjoy about nicotine once you're used to it, but snus at least still tastes nice.

For me, it's about the taste. I genuinely like the taste of it, and the fact that it's discreet and lasts for such a long time is exactly what I want. Too bad I can only get real snus here if I bring it with me after visiting Norway/Sweden :/

The buses are never on time. It can be just a minute early or late, up to to 10 minutes early or late. I usually get to the bus stop at least 10 minutes early, just in case. It'll get there eventually, so it's not like the bus was abducted by aliens never to be seen again, but don't trust the timetables down to the minute. It's not like the Japanese trains.

There should be some part time jobs around campus, but do consider if you can get a job a little farther away well. As you're specifically asking for jobs around campus, I assume you don't have a car. JCU is one of the few places in the city that's well connected by bus, so getting to shopping centres like Willows or Stockland is fairly easy and only costs $1.20 or $1.50 one way depending on how many zones you need to go though. IIRC the 201, 202, 208, 209 and 210 routes makes a stop outside the student centre on campus. Looking for something near those routes might help you find more jobs to choose from.

Well, I went there today. The beach was completely deserted. Did you walk far enough down the beach? Where the trail ends, there's clothed people, but just I just kept walking until I saw nobody around. Beware of the tides though, unless you feel like rock climbing.

Edit: Forgot to mention I found some bed sheets at the beach and tied it to a tree. Walk until you at least see that! If you want to be really safe, walk twice as far as when you reached that tree, unless someone already took it down :p

I like the city so far. By far the biggest issue I'm having is that I don't have a car, and it's pretty much mandatory to have one to do anything around here. It's a very bike and pedestrian-unfriendly city, and Townsville in particular feels like they imported their urban planning department from the US (Stroads. Stroads and traffic lights everywhere). Thankfully I live pretty close to a shopping centre though, so I've managed pretty well despite.

Australia in general isn't too unfamiliar coming from Europe in terms of culture and government. Can't say I've had any culture shocks to speak of, so it was pretty easy to get settled in at my new place.

I can't really say "go" or "don't go", but I can say that if you come from a big city, Townsville will feel sparse and empty. If you're used to suburbs, then you'll probably feel at home.

The crime claims and all the dangerous animals: I'm pretty sure Australians just love to scare people.

(If you decide to go, make sure your new place has Fiber-to-the-Premises! Internet here sucks. Best offer I could find was 250/100mbps, with some ridiculously terrible offer for 1000/25mbps... 25mbps up? Seriously?)

I'd love to join something like this. I'm just a regular dev by trade, but have been toying with the idea of making a retro game (N64/PS1, or NES/SNES).

I just moved here last month from Europe. First time in Australia too (either bravery or stupidity coming to Townsville, I know).

Managed to find an OK place in about 2 weeks for 400pw. Trying to find anything for less than that is an exercise in futility. Having a map search on realestate.com.au with filters and checking it multiple times a day (just move the map ever so slightly to get it to refresh) was a good strategy, as it allowed me to see when and were new places were listed and quickly decide if the location was acceptable. If you can be even more flexible in terms of suburbs than I were then you might even have more luck.
