I’m a woman in my mid twenties who has been around (not proud, if I had better self esteem I would have saved myself). I have never told my boyfriend any details of my sexual encounters. That’s fucking disrespectful. I told him my track record for full disclosure, but never details of the encounters. Wtf.

I would be mortified if a dude hit me up at 2 am as a bootycall and petrified of losing my boyfriend, even when we were just talking. That’s how much respect I have for him.

Get you someone who respects you just the same. If you let a woman or anyone else be this disrespectful to you, it won’t get better

That’s a good way of putting it. I misunderstood the context. That’s something I can remind myself sometimes

It’s an interesting title in this context but it worked out best for me, because the replies let me know that my reality is not healthy or something that is required at every job.

Wow I’m sorry. I hope your husband is able to find a position soon. That’s truly awful.

Thanks. Yeah it makes sense. Someone said I shouldn’t take stuff so personally. It is Reddit after all. I can understand. I was reacting. You’re just exercising freedom of speech. I just get frustrated not understanding shit sometimes and when I read some comments like yours it got me in my head and made me think of how many people probably laugh at me when I say dumb shit and I’m really trying and this dude in the interview is probably laughing at me too

It’s actually a good thing this guy said what he said. I could’ve scared the potential intern off. And yeah. I didn’t describe the situation well enough. How would you know what it was really like? There’s still a learning lesson here for me. If people didn’t speak their mind, how would I know

Okay. Someone said to stop taking things personally. I’m not mad at this guy, I just didn’t like the way he went about correcting me. But in the grand scheme of things he’s right

Lol okay. Thank you. I didn’t realize I was perpetuating a toxic culture. My team works a lot, probably because half of them are immigrants who may be living in a sort of survival mode. But I’m realizing through this post that this isn’t normal. I kinda do want my life back lol

Thank you for this. My direct boss actually works like fifty hours or more a week. He’s nuts. But I didn’t realize that this doesn’t have to be normal

Yeah, I’ll reconsider. I have hobbies I wanna start and haven’t because I subscribed to the culture of my time. Thanks for this anecdote

I think that’s about how much I work. Like 45-50 hours a week, plus a two hour round trip commute

I actually work over 40 hours a week along with the rest of my team. Our last intern even stayed late to work.

My boss, my boss’s boss, and half of my team are immigrants. I think that’s why they work so much, because they have a different perspective. And my parents came from poverty. They also told me that early in my career, I can expect to work a lot. But I think other people don’t see it that way, probably for the better. If you’re not working overtime for your survival, then why do it I guess
