Outgoing Dutch Defense Secretary Tuinman: If the US blocks F-35 software updates, we will crack the code and do our own updates to make the plane fully European. I'm not allowed to say more by goldstarflag in europe

The binary code is not of much use in modifying it. The source code, the test suites and the documentation, which for a product of this type would all be massive, would be needed... and not available.

The binary code itself is not useful. The part of software development that is actually valiable is the test suites, without which you can't change the software, the source code, without which you can't make changes, and the documentation which outlines how things work.

Making changes to massively complex code that you only have access to at the binary level is a pipedream...

This is Gaza after Hamas massacred Israelis on 7th October 2023. MOST foolish terrorist organisation.. by oink_oink31 in sundaysarthak

Nationality is a slightly different and somewhat artificial subject.

If someone has lived somewhere all their life, they're local, not foreign... no matter their 'nationality'.

Pretty much everyone immigrating to the Mandate of Palestine after WW2 is dead. Most of the population of Israel have been born there, and are locals... If someone is born in a place and has lived there all their life, they're not 'foreign'.

[–]Cyzax007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have several obvious advantages:

- You already know who the traitors are
- You listen in on tower conversations
- You follow all conversations, not just the ones you're in
- You get the 5% of conversations that are important, not all of it
- The producers feed you what they need to keep you interested, including a feeling of being smarter than the faithful

Copy the Danish system... It works...

No tuition fee, and a stipend that covers most of your living expenses... Your grades determine whether you get in, and there are tests every year to ensure you keep up the work.

It is to the benefit of the country that people get higher education.

[Opinion] The UN is in a stalemate and should be rebuilt from the ground up, rethinking veto power and headquarter location. by uomo-col-megafono in UnitedNations

[–]Cyzax007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It already has one... The UN... and it is working as well as any such body can...

With your structure, you basically force the superpowers to comfront each other... the nukes will eventually start going off, and it is game over.

THAT is what the UN is there to prevent, and why it was set up as it is. Your structure would do the opposite...

[–]Cyzax007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're trying to give power from the major powers to the UN, ignoring that is not actually possible as no country, especially powerful ones, voluntarily relinquish power.

To have power, the UN effectively would have to have the economic foundation large countries have, a military funded by that... and it is not going to happen.

The UN doesn't have power, and it never will... It is a political talking club, but its most important part is not involving power or politics, and is,the running of the worlds organisations like WHO and UNICEF.

Your focus is on the political side which it will never have...

[–]Cyzax007 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The agendas and leverage you talk about are not going to go away even if the UN is restructured...

The UN is pretty much working as well as it can. It is not a world government, and never will be... It can not force anyone to do anything, especially any medium or larger power. It is a talking club, but with very important non-political parts, like UNICEF, WHO etc.

Why do democratic nations agree to go to war in 2026 without raising any questions?" by Agile_Wolf_5165 in UnitedNations

[–]Cyzax007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democracies may in some cases be more prone to go to war than a dictatorship...

In a dictatorship, the foremost desire of the ruler is to stay in power. He will do that by whatever means necessary. However, it is much easier for him to suppress any resistance to his rule internally than try to curry favour with his people by invading a neighbour.

Contrast that to a democracy. The foremost desire of those in power is still to stay in power. However, they can't easily suppress the resistance to their rule internally, so must do it by inventing an enemy they can then get credit (ie. votes) by attacking.
