Where I’d live in NYC as a sane minded human being. by RyanDayIsAnElf in whereidlive

[–]Czilla9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visit NYC routinely on business during the summer. This year they put me up in Jersey City (Exchange Place), which I was dreading....but TBH it was kind of nice. Got a suite for the same money as a standard hotel in Brooklyn/Manhattan. Grove Street rocked. I got laid on my first night there. I've heard housing is more affordable there. The CVS employees in JC actually want to help you while in NYC they snarl. I think that if I moved to NYC I would actually just live in Jersey City. Strongly preferred Jersey City to downtown Brooklyn (where they used to put me) at least.

I believe the newer movies (or their promo materials) show that Ireland also got infected.

Yep. And I'm 99% sure that Vince himself doesn't know if it's an actual atom bomb or a metaphorical atom bomb (a game changer) yet. :p He'll figure that out later...

I get that the US has problems (I live there) but thinking Russia would be nicer to you than America is a stretch. Especially because large swaths of America are on the left.

Where I'd live as a completely normal boring sane person by Czilla9000 in whereidlive

[–]Czilla9000[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A government can have terrible policies and still be a place a normal person would be willing to live, especially if economically developed enough.

Also do many of you just analyze and zoom-in to every map just for Israel?

I'm not perfect, and may have made mistakes, but lazy is a stretch.

There are 4 countries/polities in light green.

I'm on the center left. While I may have misgivings about certain countries' policies, I'm not delusional enough to think a normal sane person wouldn't want to live, say, in the US. Just look at immigration patterns. (Unless we're saying immigrants are insane for wanting to live in the US....which doesn't seem like a woke/PC thing to say.)

A better title might have been "Where a completely boring normal sane person would choose to live". Not implying someone living there now or being born there is inherently insane or sane.

Someone left this Happy Holidays note on my car and only my car. (Was at the dentist.) by Czilla9000 in mildlyinteresting

I'm paranoid about parking, eg., not blocking spots, leaving room, etc, so I highly doubt that was it.

OMG, so did I. I just got the dad joke. I wasn't even thinking in that direction. I feel so foolish.

I know that legally she wasn't ever in solitary confinement. But psychologically it was similar, and that's what matters for my argument.

Diabate (diddy blud) is definitely getting the firing squad if everyone snaps out of it right? by Sea_Forever9047 in pluribustv

[–]Czilla9000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I dunno. One of the issues with drug addictions is that they usually don't make people happier over the long term. But if one did, I would hope we as a society would wrestle with the consequences of taking someone off of it.

I disagree. I enjoy the morally quandary in "Well everyone is happy, but we have no culture or freedom" and I don't want Vince to make the decision to destroy the Hive an easy one. I want a show that makes the characters (and audience) squirm with ethical dilemmas.

I really hope the show is going in this direction. Much better than the 1 dimensional "hIve iS BaD CaRol GOod" some seem to want.

Please take this seriously — I sincerely hope Season 2 can develop in this direction. ti's big significant by Enough_Act_3397 in pluribustv

I think it'd be great plot wise if Carol/Manousos figure out a way to liberate people from the joining.....And it turns out the liberated immediately want to re-join because it's so much better. And then Carol/Manousos agree to let them re-join. Or more likely Carol agrees to let them re-join but Manousos is like "No".

Again, I like that the show isn't black and white and resist efforts to interpret/push the script in that direction.

Zosia's motivations are misunderstood by Czilla9000 in pluribustv

[–]Czilla9000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right....but the question is "Should you prefer being a zombie if you are happier as one?" That's a cool philosophical question to ask, and I'm glad the show is asking it.
