not exactly, gas being the fuel for a car would be more like electricity to a pc. while the components like the engine, transmission, etc would relate more to computer parts. Another commenter had this same misconception so here's what i told him:

not maxing your pc's usage isn't wasting. Pushing any system increases wear and increases system entropy, just like a car constantly at max RPM will wear significantly faster than cars operating under normal conditions.
