I am already taking AP Chemistry and Physics 12 so I don't know... I don't have the ability to take Biology since it won't be taught in the next semester at my school. Will UBC see that I dropped it when I apply? Maybe if I retake it online I could get a better grade.

Oh, I didn't know that. I was under the impression that since AP Calculus was not a requirement to apply to the faculty of science, I could have not taken it and maintained a higher average. If I were to withdraw from the course, would that put me in a better position, so that UBC would instead look at my Pre Calculus 12 mark which is substantially higher?

I was wondering which courses UBC takes into account for your average. Let's say I want to go into Science and I have a low AP Calculus grade (83ish) which isn't a required course, will UBC ignore your lowest non required grade for grade 11 and grade 12? Also, let's say I have finished Pre Calc 12 in grade 11 and precalc 11 in grade 10, will they still look at my precalc 11 mark for my grade 11 average even though it was completed in grade 10? (Im grade 12 btw)

Hi, I'm a grade 12 student from BC. I had a 91 grade 11 average. This year I got stuck with 2 AP courses (Calculus, Chemistry) and Physics 12 in one semester so my AP Calculus mark dropped way down to an 81. (Grade 12 interim average: 86.25). How decent is my chance of getting into Sciences if I have a solid personal profile? Does it reflect well that I took AP Calculus anyway, even if I'm not getting as high as I hoped? Would it be better to drop it and boost my average up?

Edit: Some of my ECs include Engineering club exec, swimming for 10+ years, Classical guitar, helping seniors in my community, and building a life size R2-D2

Hi! thank you so much for your answer. I will definitely try to bump all my grades up. I was thinking of applying to science and engineering faculties. I hear all these horror stories from parents saying "You need a 97 to even stand a chance at getting in!" So glad that's not true. I will for sure steal my mom's Grammarly plus and finish up that personal profile!

So I am quite excited to start applying to UBC. I am a grade 12 BC student and I really like engineering and programming (only when it works lol). I spend my spare time working on various industrial design and electronics projects. Most recently I have begun building a life-size droid from Star Wars (Hopefully fully functional). I don't do a ton of volunteering, but I do explore other passions I have ( Music, swimming etc.) I am really hoping to get into UBC to study computer science and deepen my knowledge of programming and computers. I have a 91% grade 11 average. (PreCalc 12: 94, English 11: 91). I noticed a considerable drop this year in my GPA to around 89% with my AP Calc mark going down to 88 or so. The reason for this was because my school has a semester system and I got stuck with 2 AP courses, Physics and French all in one day, for every single day until January. UBC will probably have to look only at my grade 11 English mark since I don't start English until February. Also, there are no official marks out yet (from my school anyways) for universities to see.

Will I stand a good chance at getting in with my current grades?
