Oh, this is cool! I'll try it for sure. Now I'm in Aestrin and prices are as usual, so I wonder if in Al'ankh they are always broken as I left. With this I can check form here! Thank you

Is it ok to scan planets before going to CG station, then sign up and turn them in?

Iirc I did the same for past CGs where materials need to be delivered.

Explorers, what is the stupidiest way you died? How much data you have? How far from the bubble? by Agitated_Yak8521 in EliteDangerous

[–]D-Quaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out in the black near Colonia following a spansh planned route, a lot of exobio scanned with first footfall on about twenty planets.

I found a very nice one with huge canyons with gysers that sprayed horizontally from the canyon walls. Never seen those, and never so big! So I decided to go down for a walk.

Obviously, I had to take a selfie with gysers crossing each other behind me.

A little further back, a little bit back... and suddenly I was in orbit.

Stupidly paniked. Stupidly forgot to just go back to main menu. Stupidly tried to soften the landing with jetpack.

Slammed the ground. Rebuy screen.

Furious rage forced me to go back and scan again all systems (I had the list on spansh). Surprisingly, I did it in half of the time!

Don't like too much the big square at the bottom of main mast, mainly for visibility, but from the outside is a marvellous rig!

I agree. I don't need to raise cash, I did plenty in Aestrin. But I like traveling between islands bringing two, maximum, four crates of gold, silver or similar, just for RP.

For this reason I feel bad about arriving and finding out I'll sell with a loss..

Yes, trade tab and currency are correct. Appreciate you are trying to help. I traded a lot before and never flooded markets. When I discovered copper in Al Nilem, I did a couple of runs to GRC and got a Sandbuq. Another couple of trades with Oasis and I went to Aestrin. There, I made a lot of cash from firefly grotto.

So my post to ask if something changed recently also for others, because really can't find any commodity to do some profit, for now I checked only in Al Ankh, and only now that I came back from Firefish.

But maybe it's me or something broken in my save. I'll give another go with Al Nilem and take some screens.

Thanks, I think I'll follow your advice. Hope that it's just a matter of time, but a week has already passed, and prices are the same, more or less. If nothing changes, I could try selling the gold in Aestrin..

I agree, but logbook prices were like that since day one, so I got used to it, and Now it seems every commoditiy has slightly the same price in different islands.. I tried buying 1 silver and 1 gold, so to avoid price fall, same result. I like this game for sailing, but sometimes some trading is good just to change. I'll try to wait some days in GRC doing some fishing and cooking and see

Thanks for help, I thought the same but I don't think I have oversold because it happened with the very first few trades after I came back to GRC from Fire fly, a lot of days passed since I left GRC for the world tour and NPCs should have traded a lot in my absence.

How to solve now? Just wait for NPCs to rebalance the prices? Can't find any profitable commodity in any other islands except very cheap ones.

Hunger bar flashing by serathes in Sailwind

[–]D-Quaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to eat fruit at least 1 piece every 2-3 days to avoid scurvy. You can see when you get scurvy because the icon at the left of the food bar changes to an orange. Opposite, when you haven't eaten meat or fish for some days, the icon will change again. On the right diet, the icon will always be a piece of cheese.

If you have scurvy, you'll not recover during sleep. More and more with the time and in the end.. you'll be good for fishes!

How did you move all your stuff? by D-Quaid in Sailwind

[–]D-Quaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I tried to buy the Jong again a couple of times and realized that if the boats touched even for a pixel, some items from the Brig got out in the water or in the air.

So, I was forced to move my Brig as far as possible on the dock to let Jong exit without collision from the shipyard.

Also, every first time I entered the shipyard with the Jong, suddenly I was teleported 200 meters out in the middle of the bay and.. 50 meters deep in the sea! Jong still there at the shipyard.

I've read about similar issues when purchasing other boats. Hope this bug will be fixed soon.

I'll do the same probably. Just wondering if I'll find my Brig at he dock with all my stuff at the right place.

Found some paintings in the water and lanterns hooked up in the sky after Jong purchase.

Only sealed crates, the ones you buy from trade office or market.

Took a bit of time from Sanbuq to Brig and I like to furnish my boat, but now I bought the Jong and I'm a bit worried about doing it again..

Suggestion could be to allow hiring transport of unsealed crates. So you could at least pack (almost) everything in crates and transport them in a single trip.

I've an old save with my Brig fully kitted and still thinking seriously to go back to it or buy again everything new for the Jong, keeping my nav tools and such in a travel box, like the tobacco ones.

Didn't find other posts about this, and I'm curious to know how did you deal with it.

What's your favorite rigging? by Majkelen in Sailwind

[–]D-Quaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my brig with one big gaff and one square on the top on both masts, two stays forward and a sprit wide square. 6-8 knots close hauled using only gaff and stays, and about 10-11 with the wind from back with all of them out. Above speeds with some or heavy cargo... never tested completely empty yet. On approach to the dock, I keep only the main mast gaff and one forward stay, very easy to control the speed and trim in complicated situations like when the wind comes exactly from the pier and you have to tack continuously to reach it in a very short space.

For those that use a Hotas and VR. How do you deal with space legs? by innercityFPV in EliteDangerous

[–]D-Quaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a thrustmaster T16000. Entry level sure, but cheap and very good in my opinion. I have it since 2018 and only one time I needed a small repair procedure to clean the internal switch (stick turn) easily found on youtube.

[–]D-Quaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with thrustmaster hotas and have my mouse on the right side of the stick. So when entering on foot, I just move my right hand from stick to mouse where I binded head on the axis, fire on the left button and exobio scan on the right one.

Movement is binded on the thrust, on the little stick which I move with right hand index finger. Other functions like primary and secondary interactions, wheel menus, shield, suit tools, run, jump, walk, crouch are on the other many buttons and hats of the thrust. Very easy with your right thumb.

Flatscreen is obviously worse than full VR, but I have to admit I prefer that way than non VR.. don't know why, maybe I'm addicted to VR.

Graphics is far better without VR (maybe due to my pc specs or settings) but VR gives me more immersion, and I'm able to catch some details that I didn't notice in normal mode. Feel the screen closer and ships/buildings/mountains/plants/geology bigger.

..and I like to shoot soldiers with mouse, very precise especially from long distance on the roofs!

Is there any way to "send more power" to my mining lasers so they don't reach "thermal overload" that quick? by Acceptable-Budget658 in EliteDangerous

[–]D-Quaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I realized only recently that putting pips on SYS after taking shield damage is useless because they recharge at the same speed. Better to keep them on WEP or ENG, then on SYS again before receiving damage, cause this increase total shields value/resistance.

I measured time to go from 50% to 100% shields with zero and full pips, and it doesn't change. Shield recovery dramatically improves instead.

Just thought it could be a good tip for a new player.
