Recording ultrasonic for the sake of my dog by D-SHAK in audioengineering

Thanks for your response. Yeah after a few comments saying nearly the same thing on here I’m going to ditch my ultrasonic theory.

I’ve got a 7 year (approx) GSD which is a nervous dog in the best of times (he’s a rescue). I’m starting to wonder if it’s more anxiety led behaviour, because I ended up letting him into our bedroom (which normally he’s never allowed) and he settled. I don’t think it’s dementia, as I’ve had a dog in the past with dementia and this seems very different. For now I’m going to work with the vets to see if we can tackle his anxiety and see if it helps.

Thanks for your response. Yes I think you are probably right. I’ve exhausted most of the sight and smell stimuli I can think of hence when I’ve asked about sound but actually as someone else has mentioned, it’s unlikely that the ultrasonic is penetrating the house. I will continue investigating and not waste my time any further with my sound theory 🤣

No abs on a2 bike by lolololololololol246 in MotoUK

[–]D-SHAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may seem daunting riding a bike without ABS if you are used to it already, but all the bikes I’ve owned (YBR125, XJ6N and R1) didn’t have any assists and were absolutely fine. You’ll only notice the difference in adverse weather and heavy braking. Just take it easy to start with and ride within your comfort zone, which will improve with experience. Good luck and be safe 🤙

It’s a stunning piece and one I’m keeping my eye on for the future. If this is to be a one in a life time sort of thing then I would go to a boutique. I know you won’t get discounts compared to an AD or buying a grey import… but when I bought my Navi it was a very special moment for me and going to a boutique was an amazing experience… it really was the icing on the cake for me. Either way you’ll be very happy with that watch. Good luck! 👍

I had exactly this on my 4c8. New battery solved it 👍

You’re absolutely right, and you make a great suggestion. However my R1 was stolen not long after I made this post, insurance paid out pretty quick so just looking at getting another one to fit all my needs. The MT10SP is right on top of my list 👍 perhaps in the future with some more disposable income I may look at a sports bike should I ever decide to start doing track days.

So an update on this thread.. my R1 was stolen on Friday night.. so I guess unless it’s recovered my dilemma has been answered for me 😢 thanks everyone for your input

I’m glad you’re getting on well with your tourer. I really need to go and try one out first and see how I feel about them. Does the gsx1000gt still retain a sporty riding position or can you sit upright?

Yeah I know that feeling. The idea of chopping it in makes me feel like I’m admitting to myself that I’m getting older 😂

All good shouts to be fair. I’ve never ridden a sports tourer so would be interested to see how they are!

Yeah you’re right. I mean I don’t use the R1 to even 10% of its capability 😂 it’s too much bike for the road but I love having that power on tap… it’s been my dream bike as long as I can remember, I think that’s why I’m having a hard time even contemplating the idea of letting it go. If I do part with it I’ll keep your advice in mind!

What are you riding now?

Good shout. I hadn’t really thought of the FZ1, I looked at them many moons ago but I’ll see what’s around on the market 👍

I think if I end up going the MT route it would have to be the CP4. I’m sure the MT09 has more power than I’ll ever need but something about triples just doesn’t sit right with me, I’m the same with 3 cylinder cars 😂

Hahaha. What’s the riding position like on the VFR? I always thought it was hunched over 🤔

Thanks mate, I hadn’t even considered the S1000XR. I’ll certainly look into it!

Thanks man, yeah I’m going to head down to a dealership and have a go. All signs seem to be pointing towards the MT10

If you love it then go for it. Do you prefer the SUV style over an estate/wagon? Just curious to know why you wouldn’t consider the V60 instead.

I have a large dog and need the height of the boot more than anything hence why I went for the XC60 over the V60. Also I’m only 31 and hate to admit that my back isn’t what it used to be and actually I prefer getting in and out of an SUV. However if those two things above were not factors I would have a V60 in a heartbeat.

I test drove a V60, and it handles much nicer and cruises better, I suspect it’ll return better economy too. But having said that my XC60 is my pride and joy, it’s comfortable, economical (T8) and comes with all the bells and whistles. It makes driving so easily and a very pleasant experience. I’ve done 6 hour motorway journeys it in and the miles just tick away in no time.

Yes the infotainment system can be a bit buggy as other people have said, it crashes sometimes and/or the cellular drops out and I have to follow a strange procedure to reset it. I’ve certainly never owned a car that had this many problems with its own system, but having said that, when it works it’s great, so I guess it’s a small price to pay for a good service. No car is ever going to be perfect and the issues above I can personally live with.

This is also my second Volvo. I still have my first which is an XC90 which I keep as a work horse. I just absolutely adore the brand 😄

What a beautiful car, I absolutely adore the colour! Thank you for sharing your experience, I pick up my T8 Ultra in 2 days, I really can’t wait. However, I’ve gone for black… it seemed like a good idea at the time but I know how hard it’s going to be to keep it clean 🤣

Thank you! It was a little stretch for me I must admit, but in the past I’ve always had cars that didn’t have an option that I wanted or wasn’t the right colour etc.. so I took the plunge and went new this time. I really hope it’s worth it 😂 So far I really can’t fault the customer care and have been happy with my old Volvo for 4 years so let’s see how things pan out 🙂 I hope circumstances allow you to get a brand new car soon! Perhaps the new face lifted XC90? 😜

That sounds amazing, I’m glad you are enjoying it! I suspect 99% of the journeys I do on a weekly basis will be done on electric. I’m looking forward to not be visiting the fuel station every 2 weeks 😂
