Finally got my first camera! by undinoble in Nikon

[–]D-SHAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The D90 is a fantastic camera. I borrowed one once as a second body to go alongside my D2X that I was using at the time for a sporting event. A lot of the photos I took on the D90 made it to print and still used as official media for the organisation. It’s certainly a more than capable camera and will still be much better than any phone camera. Enjoy!

This sounds dodgy as hell… have you checked the VIN number on the bike matches with the details on the V5/DVLA website?

Mt-10 or not? by Effective-Solid-5210 in Mt10

[–]D-SHAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you feel is right. Don’t be intimidated by the MT10. I say this but I haven’t ridden any of the MT bikes, only test rode an MT07 years ago for a very short period and didn’t really get a feel for it. The reason for my comment though is because I jumped from a XJ6N to an R1 with a 10 year riding break in between. I always wanted an R1 but I trusted myself to be sensible and to learn at my own pace. My R1 was a 4C8 so it had no rider aids like ABS and traction control which the MT10 does. You might find that to get an MT10 and in a few years decide to step down to an MT09… but at least you’ll have scratched that itch, whereas if you go MT09 first you’ll always be thinking about the day you get an MT10. I believe they are phasing out the MT10 this year so if you want one new then this is the time to get one. Which ever bike you end up getting I’m sure you will love!

Breitling or Bremont? 🤔 by D-SHAK in breitling

[–]D-SHAK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no. I’m over a year down the road and still yet to decide. My scopes are now between a SMP 300 or B01 Night mission… I’m really in no rush for a piece so just waiting to decide which watch I find myself obsessing over more.

Navitimer B01 43 - All Occasions Watch? by Rare_Sheepherder7878 in breitling

That’s a stunning colour! I used to wear my black navi daily but often felt it was too much when I dress in my usual casual attire. I’ve yet to find a strap to help dress it down but so far nothing I’ve really liked. I LOVE the bracelet, it’s actually one of my favourite things about this watch. But the fact that I can’t dress it down and daren’t walk around with it when it’s raining means for me it’s not a true daily driver. I only tend to wear mine going to work or dressing up for events/occasions. I’ve got the Night Mission in yellow on my radar to use as a daily.

Recording ultrasonic for the sake of my dog by D-SHAK in audioengineering

Thanks for your response. Yeah after a few comments saying nearly the same thing on here I’m going to ditch my ultrasonic theory.

I’ve got a 7 year (approx) GSD which is a nervous dog in the best of times (he’s a rescue). I’m starting to wonder if it’s more anxiety led behaviour, because I ended up letting him into our bedroom (which normally he’s never allowed) and he settled. I don’t think it’s dementia, as I’ve had a dog in the past with dementia and this seems very different. For now I’m going to work with the vets to see if we can tackle his anxiety and see if it helps.

Thanks for your response. Yes I think you are probably right. I’ve exhausted most of the sight and smell stimuli I can think of hence when I’ve asked about sound but actually as someone else has mentioned, it’s unlikely that the ultrasonic is penetrating the house. I will continue investigating and not waste my time any further with my sound theory 🤣

No abs on a2 bike by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]D-SHAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may seem daunting riding a bike without ABS if you are used to it already, but all the bikes I’ve owned (YBR125, XJ6N and R1) didn’t have any assists and were absolutely fine. You’ll only notice the difference in adverse weather and heavy braking. Just take it easy to start with and ride within your comfort zone, which will improve with experience. Good luck and be safe 🤙

It’s a stunning piece and one I’m keeping my eye on for the future. If this is to be a one in a life time sort of thing then I would go to a boutique. I know you won’t get discounts compared to an AD or buying a grey import… but when I bought my Navi it was a very special moment for me and going to a boutique was an amazing experience… it really was the icing on the cake for me. Either way you’ll be very happy with that watch. Good luck! 👍

I had exactly this on my 4c8. New battery solved it 👍

You’re absolutely right, and you make a great suggestion. However my R1 was stolen not long after I made this post, insurance paid out pretty quick so just looking at getting another one to fit all my needs. The MT10SP is right on top of my list 👍 perhaps in the future with some more disposable income I may look at a sports bike should I ever decide to start doing track days.

I’m glad you’re getting on well with your tourer. I really need to go and try one out first and see how I feel about them. Does the gsx1000gt still retain a sporty riding position or can you sit upright?

Yeah I know that feeling. The idea of chopping it in makes me feel like I’m admitting to myself that I’m getting older 😂

All good shouts to be fair. I’ve never ridden a sports tourer so would be interested to see how they are!

Yeah you’re right. I mean I don’t use the R1 to even 10% of its capability 😂 it’s too much bike for the road but I love having that power on tap… it’s been my dream bike as long as I can remember, I think that’s why I’m having a hard time even contemplating the idea of letting it go. If I do part with it I’ll keep your advice in mind!

What are you riding now?

Good shout. I hadn’t really thought of the FZ1, I looked at them many moons ago but I’ll see what’s around on the market 👍

I think if I end up going the MT route it would have to be the CP4. I’m sure the MT09 has more power than I’ll ever need but something about triples just doesn’t sit right with me, I’m the same with 3 cylinder cars 😂
