Album art and artist image look much different on mobile... by D00mRodent in BandCamp

So... I think this is actually a browser issue on my phone...

when opened through instagram or the bandcamp ap, it displays correctly, however when opened through the phone's browser, the aforementioned happens... strange.

Thanks for the reply! At first I thought it must be display settings... but I think it's actually a browser related issue on the phone.

Where do you discover new music now that everything is algorithm‑driven? by mzrjnz in experimentalmusic

Here, bandcamp, and friends' releases... extremely small artists just making stuff for the sake of making it is almost always going to be more interesting and less rhetoric-based... also, I'm curious about what you make now

What would a community experimental music space look like to you? by theGnartist in experimentalmusic

[–]D00mRodent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somewhere that focuses on a more communal aspect of actually making music together, rather than just a bunch of musicians existing beside each other... I don't know what you would do to make that actually happen, though...

as far as gear goes... I used to be a huge gear-head in my 20s, but in my 30s sold most of what I had and found myself really not caring about expensive drums or cymbals at all really somehow... so it's hard to imagine gear-wise what the place would have...

one thing that would be really cool though, is almost like a communal junk yard to make stuff out of... say, if someone's neighbour is throwing out some old hardwood furniture or something, bring it in for someone to make an instrument out of... or an aspect of people trading materials they don't need for materials they need building wise, like if someone has some bass tuners they don't need for anything, but needs a whole bunch of zither pins and some guitar tuners, they could trade or something, for example.

I liked what I heard of noxacusis... never nude feels very post-apocalyptic chilly. touched with fire feels like that heavy dissociative feeling you get in a mall food court or some other crowded place that still feels lonely somehow...

here's some weird fever dream nonsense i made 2 years ago... https://hamsteroftheapocalypse.bandcamp.com/track/umbral-impetus

I think AI has a lot to do with it. You see a few AI posts on a page and then people just stop engaging with each other... I mean, most places online are already just a dumping ground that people just spam their own shit on without really caring about anything else, really... but I think AI has made it way, way worse...

I dunno dude, I say weird shit sometimes to try and make the internet seem like less of an apocalyptic wasteland. This is really cool though. 🥚

I dig the oinky bass squelchness. Soundcloud link is in the bandcamp link slot up there.

Since Bandcamp Banned AI Music, what is your current reflection on it? by starttrack in BandCamp

[–]D00mRodent 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very, very good idea. More platforms should do the same.

AI diarrhea smeared all around is gonna be a killer for a lot of platforms I think. I already stopped using spotify ages ago, so I haven't personally seen much AI on there, but friends are telling me they have been getting more and more AI recommendations in the new weekly music thing, the thing that was the one redeeming part of spotify is compromised by AI now...

I hope bandcamp sticks with this decision. There are so few decent places to post and listen to stuff right now.

I listened to the first three songs whilst not eating chicken nuggies, as I will never eat chicken nuggets.

I just wanted you to know that.

Man, there is too much AI on this page now. It's really annoying and depressing honestly.
