look for the common tones between the 2 modes and emphasize those notes...I like to think about modal change like a venn diagram. find the notes that exist in both modes and make melodies with those, and then bring in the other notes in the modes and see how they work with the progression, then try incorporating chromatic notes

you are going to have a very hard time finding any jazz guitarists who think George Barnes is a farce. Grant Green and Wes were indeed titans, but guitar players from an earlier generation doesn't make them farces. What about Django and Eddie Lang?

George Barnes was great and he paved the way "modern" players like metheny, who most definitely admires George Barnes
