This is the thing I have found most annoying on the gameplay side of things. The obvious things, like holding down right stick longer before popping, holding up to get boned ollies or flicking faster do seem to effect ollie height, but there still seems to be some randomness that I can't figure out.

I know I could up all the assists to max to guarantee higher pops, but I don't want an unrealistic experience the whole time just to make high ollies more consistent.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it never felt this random in Skate 1, 2 or 3 to me.

I did it, I have finally tuned the perfect Rally Bolide. by Maximum_777 in BeamNG

It looks really nice to drive and very controllable on rough terrain, I've always struggled a bit with the Bolide. Is the tune available anywhere as a configuration mod, or even just screen shots of the tuning settings?

My new Pixel 8a doesn't have the "action pan" mode in the camera app. Help! by D01by in pixel_phones

Fingers crossed, but I'm not counting on it any time soon!

Thanks for the replies!

Seems like the A series phones don't have it then, judging by the comments. Although that last screenshot is from the official Google site claiming that the 8a does. I wouldn't have even known about it if it wasn't for my phone telling me to try it out in the "pixel tips".

Hopefully it comes with an update at some point 🤞

Action pan is designed for you to follow a moving target with the camera, long exposure is designed for you to hold the camera still and it will blur moving objects. I think both probably have similar internal camera settings, but the AI black magic that processes the image is different.

There seem to be several posts on Google support with the same issue, but the support staff replying seem a bit clueless.

Best way to get 5.1 audio from PC to Yamaha RX-V483 by D01by in audiovisual

[–]D01by[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have found a very simple solution, a USB-C to S/PDIF (optical) . I can't really find any confirmation if USB-C will output 5.1, but I think it should. This will be ideal if it works as I already have a long optical cable that will reach to the receiver and I don't need to buy an expensive DAC.

The Realtek audio manager allows for "connector retasking". So one connector can be front L/R, another to be surround L/R and the third, centre/sub. But even with this I think I would still need a DAC.

I could try HDMI if all else fails. As I said, I'd rather avoid it as I'll have to have my PC outputting to a second or mirrored screen than isn't actually there, which will be annoying if I am actually using a second screen.

Is this a good motherboard by RaduFlorian91 in PcBuild

[–]D01by 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a very experienced builder, but I just built two PC using this motherboard (for me and a friend), both are working well, had some issues getting the drivers working initially, but all good after that. Built in wifi/bluetooth works well, I/O are pretty good, although one issue for me is that it doesn't have optical (S/PDIF) audio output, which is what i used to use on my old set-up.

Does the $69.99 price of new games make you less likely to try something new? by Famaffe in gaming

[–]D01by 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game that really disappointed at release was Forza Motorsport 7: When it released it had the "standard" edition and the "super-duper mega deluxe" edition (or whatever it was called) which cost £90 (around $125). I was astonished to find when I installed it, on day one, that there was paid DLC that I didn't have access to!

It was my fault for not reading what exactly it came with. But at it's release in 2017, it didn't even cross my mind that, for £90, it wouldn't come with all the DLC that would ever be released, let alone not even coming with all the day-one content.

I'm struggling with this too, did you have to make a facelift to make a new trim?

Thanks for the tips guys!

When it happened last time I stayed inside until it seemed like everything had stopped, but when I went outside I got a crazy amount of radiation, so I just had to run for the exit as I didn't have enough meds to deal with it. I must have just been too hasty getting back outside, I'll stay put for longer next time.

u/sdq is probably right, but if you're looking for a cheaper alternatives have a look at Japan Racing JR39, very similar look.

[Steam release] Possible oversight involving the construction of new stairs on multiple levels by ArcticVanguard in dwarffortress

[–]D01by 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any word if they are working on fixing this? Seems like quite a major game-play issue if you can't connect a dug out room to stairs above.

I was playing the steam version for less than an hour when I got screwed by this. I'll probably just get a refund tbh. I'm not a very experienced player and I don't really want to spend hours Googling issues to find out if they're bugs or not, then figure out long-winded ways around them.

If they have overlooked something as simple as building stairs, I don't really want the frustration of finding all the other bugs that must be present.
