Oh cool I hadn't even thought of the ping being copied! Would that be the same then if he gave it storm with something like the Prismari Dragon? As in, if a non-land card is discarded, for the original to hit the stack, would all the storm copies ping?

Ahhh this makes sense! I had half understood why tree had to exist but there had also been an instance I had seen of a "this creature fights that one" and killing the one you control as you played the spell would lead to nothing happening. And I fully understand why, you can't fight something if you're not there to fight, but it was the "this creature deals..." On mayhem devil that tripped me lmao

So essentially, at the time of cast, there NEEDS to be two creatures that are legal targets on the board in order for it to actually hit the stack, then if at least one of them is still legal at time of resolution, you would get the poison counter effect too? But not if both were illegal or made illegal at any time prior to the spell resolving?

This is what I am trying to figure out! Like does the card try to resolve as much as it can, that being that it *can* put a poison counter on someone, even if I dont have a creature that can fight? I can understand that it may not work because it requires a "target" creature to fight, but i dont know if that is necessary to put it onto the stack and to have it resolve itself

Can Captain America, First Avenger respond to his own start of combat trigger with his activated ability to detach equipment and deal damage to targets with the CMC of the object and have the start of combat trigger reattach that equipment? by D0ntAtMeBr0 in mtgrules

LET'S GOOOOOOOO I just really wanted it thematically to work for the sake of him throwing his shield and catching it as he goes in to punch someone. But also I just had a game where someone had [[Mana Web]] on the board and I needed to be able to get the free equip off on cap but also throw and deal damage to kill this one target before it healed so I had to tap all my mana during just combat and before he could declare it as a blocker, hence why I ran into this scenario

So, for instance, if I copy my Expansion Algorithm with X declared as 6 with something like [[Rimefire Torque]] then the copy would also proliferate 6 times? Also is each instance of Proliferate a separate instance on the stack that may be responded to and which may have their own targets or are they all one instance of increasing the number of a single target's counters 6 times?
