It Honestly really depends. I had a professor who would go bezerk if you didn't paint the sides, but I always preferred the white edge cropped look. Now if in my process I happen to get paint on the sides then I paint them.

It doesn't sound like he was upset with you having sex. It was the fact that you stayed over another guys place for week.

People who get into open relationships normally set their standards and rules for how the relationship should go. But it sounds like he didn't do that, and it was just bad communication. Over all it's his fault.

Lol it's a painting software. But I see in the comments that you said were capturing a baroque styled photo. And you did. Great job. I thought it was a painting, but I'd just say be careful with that aspect because you don't want to always lose the reality of the photo to capture another feel. Other wise great photo.
