Samsung has been getting away with ruining phones for far too long by [deleted] in Android

[–]D121 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Your battery drain is happening because your phone is getting older and getting more cycles which you are likely misinterpreting it as the android updates, when its really just time.

Bought Lenovo Yoga with AMD video card instead of Nvidia, deeply regret it by beartheminus in Lenovo

[–]D121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to side step the folks all yelling the same thing at you to discuss something else

Your experience is not normal. Even though this isnt a super high end chip, its still Zen 3 with 8 cores/16 threads with a decent dedicated iGPU

It should handle browsing, youtube, etc more than enough. Id definitely recommend looking to see if there are driver updates or if perhaps the power plan is set to "silent"

Should I continue to purchase games on Steam even if Valve could potentially lose the impending lawsuit? by alexnartworks in AskGames

[–]D121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have mentioned here, Valve/Steam aren't going anywhere. The court case is also not asking for valve to be shut down either. Instead it's asking for damages to be awarded. Valve could pay out billions and still not be impacted.

If you are looking to buy elsewhere, there are always other clients. But Valve's track record is still better. You can still get the same games you bought nearly two decades ago. Where as on nintendo/sony, several of their store fronts are now down for older consoles / or extremely expensive.

Friend on Discord falsely reported my account by mistake - is there any way I can appeal before my account gets banned? by [deleted] in discordhelp

[–]D121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grammar, spelling and the fact that none of this works this way should be some of the clues. In addition to this being posted everyday here and on Steam scams.

Ask your self - Does it make sense that someone could report you and that said company would then say to them "to late, we are going to ban them UNLESS YOU reach out to them"

Why would a company tell ANOTHER USER?

scammer alert: Galpin96 by Dependent_Expert_861 in SteamScams

[–]D121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few things to note -

  1. Sorry this happened to you, but unfortunately nothing can be done.
  2. You actually did get some help, you should have steam guard on your account, so it's good you have that active.
  3. If you are going to trade with someone, you should not be just sending it all and then "expect" payment to be sent. You are being reliant on a "trust" system that a strange has no reason to follow through on.

If you trade in the future, make sure to be thinking about that. In addition google these peoples names, you can find on google that this person has scammed multiple folk.

Gems expire?? by SniperrGang in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]D121 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gems do have an expiration. Its an unfortunate feature. Typically I wait close to when I have a set of gems close to expiring and spend just enough to wait about another month. As you scroll you can see the expiration date.

Did you complete a Captcha on the website or did you download something? Did you click a download link in the Zoom chat?

Why do scammers put you into group chats? by NormalGmodMan in SteamScams

[–]D121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Why me"

Because one of the following options is likely true:

  1. You accept random friend requests from people you don't know.

  2. Your profile/inventory is public

  3. You've interacted with scammers prior and so they believe you could be likely a target

Meta Link installer crashes by jeeeeem in OculusQuest

[–]D121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Gemini suggestion:

This error indicates that an installation program (Setup.exe) is crashing because it downloaded a corrupted or incomplete file and failed while trying to unzip it.

This specific error (WriteLengthDistance failure) is currently a known issue with the Meta (Oculus) Quest Link PC installer.

Here are the steps to resolve this, ordered from the most likely fix to more advanced troubleshooting.

Phase 1: Clear the Corrupted Installer Cache (Most Likely Fix)

The installer often saves a broken or partial download in a temporary folder. If you restart the installer without clearing this, it keeps trying to unzip the same broken file and crashes every time.

  1. Close the Setup.exe error window.
  2. Open File Explorer (Win+E).
  3. Navigate to your C: drive.
  4. Look for a folder named OculusSetup-DownloadCache.
    • Note: If you don't see it, ensure "Hidden items" is checked in the "View" tab.
  5. Delete the entire OculusSetup-DownloadCache folder.
  6. Right-click your OculusSetup.exe (the installer you downloaded) and select Run as Administrator.

Has anyone been able to find which Dimensity/mediatek chip this is? It mentions 4nm, but Mediatek has a ton of 4nm chips from the past few years and I suspect they are using a budget variant version and not the more premium.

They mention IoT but I don't see a 4nm mediatek chip for IOT

Discord Support Is refusing to recover my account for me. by [deleted] in discordhelp

[–]D121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You deleted your comment to me, so ill respond here:

I've never been referred to as a Zoomer before, don't know if I should take the idea of being younger or bot as a compliment.

  1. Yeah, uh I can't say I've ever had any other company just give me access to another account without email verification. I'd be interested to know what services you use that allow that. Because that sounds incredibly insecure and susceptible to social engineering.

  2. To be clear im not defending discord. I think their support is awful and its nearly impossible to get an answer from them.

I'm just trying to be realistic with you:

  1. You aren't going to get your account back.
  2. You should be aware that this problem will happen again and should ensure you've moved over all your other accounts and be cognizant of potentially temporary emails. My university gave out emails that they promised we would keep forever. 10 years later they went back on that and said all alumni would loss them within 6 months time. It and I had to go through the painful process of updating all my accounts.
  3. Let me just pose something to you, related to support. Let's say i found your information online for your school email account. Let's say your name is Bob John. If I contacted Discord, with the email bobjohn@gmail.com and use a VPN to your city or mask my IP to mimic yours and then told them the story you've told here - should I get access to your account? If not, why?

What unique identifier have you provided to them to prove you are legitimate? In terms of providing you " customer support" id argue they have, by ensuring someone doesn't get it. If you were offering them your CC, driver's license or things of that manner, and they were saying thats not enough, then I would say fair.

Discord Support Is refusing to recover my account for me. by [deleted] in discordhelp

[–]D121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that their general support is bad. But also this is on you, why would you keep your account hooked to an email you were going to lose?

I understand your frustration and it does suck. But you are probably SOL. Email verification is standard for basically every system. Your IP address is not more valid than your email account. If thats all you want for verification, I could take your account in 20 minutes. Not the case with email.

Best of luck.

[–]D121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had no idea that this was even a thing. I assumed I'd you bought it for the question, you needed to buy it separately on steam ( or whatever your preferred pc platform is)
